People that can't find any good deals on the net...may not be any/many but I'd like a professional to tell me that...for free.

I am going to a wedding in June in Jamaica and the bride and groom used Pearsons travel on Jefferson. The woman we used was incompetent. I've used 3 different travel agents and they all seem very flakey.

All they do is look shite up on the internet, right?

If you cant put together a vacation "package" for yourself, you have bigger problems

Hotel...check
Round trip plane ride...check
Dinner reservations...check

How hard is that? Plan the rest of your activities when you get there

They actually have access to hotel/airline/resort discounts at no cost to you. Went with an agent for my honeymoon and saved ~$1100 as compared to pricing it myself.

They also can fix problems if they arise. They usually have a contact at the airline and one at the hotel if issues come up. They can fix them while you have another drink at the bar.

How easy is it to get "single supplements" waived on European tour packages? I don't relish paying an extra $300-500 because I don't want to room with a stranger in a tiny Euro hotel room...

Good luck. The agent has to make money too.

My grandfather was a partner with one of the biggest travel agencies in BR before the internet provided an option for people to book trips themselves. When they split, many of the agents went to travelcorp and many were picked up by large companies such as Shaw. There are some great agents with travelcorp that will hook you up. Get in good with them and they will help you get awesome rates during tough booking dates like mardi gras and jazz fest

Yeah, hiring a real estate agent will save you money, too.
