Posted by magildachunks on 4/25 at 7:18 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt Can't believe Romney is the best the GOP can do. That party may have worse people in it than the Dems. and that's just pathetic. Reply Back to Top |
| I ask again: Why does someone's wealth matter at all? Wealth is the measure of man's capacity to achieve. Reply Back to Top |
| This from the folks who still idolize the Kennedys and FDR, and who loved to love John Kerry a short while back? Reply Back to Top |

quote: Me either, but he's what they got. I don't expect a presidential candidate to be a 3 job while going to school and paying his parent's light bill kinda guy. Glad for them that they got to get a good stress-free education. Just hope he doesn't start bragging about the rough times he survived in college. Reply Back to Top |
quote: There are kinds of difficulty other than financial. I would bet a paycheck that quote is not in proper context. Reply Back to Top |
quote: You have no idea how much they were living on when they were selling chunks of Romney's investments. It could've been minimum-wageesque for all we know. ETA: Found the full quote and yea it is taken out of context horribly. quote: Let's say he had $3000 invested since Ann says "a few thousand" at $6 a share that is only 500 shares. So when he cashed out at $96 a share it amounted to $45,000. Over a 4 year period that amounts to $11,250 a year. This post was edited on 4/25 at 7:30 pm Reply Back to Top |
| Could have been. I don't know. I claim to know absolutely not a damn thing about financial matters, but I know if you can afford to pay for both yours and your wife's schooling without having a job, you aren't hurting all that much financially. quote: FTFY Paris Hilton is wealthy. Other than being born to a wealthy father, what has she "achieved?" Reply Back to Top |
This tidbit about Romney is never mentioned: quote: LINK The inheritance he did get went to BYU. He made it on his own. Now, Obama wasn't hurting either. He went to the most exclusive prep school in Hawaii and Harvard for college. We don't know a damned thing about how Obama paid for his education because the records are sealed. Posted by magildachunks on 4/25 at 7:37 pm to MFn GIMP quote: For an apartment that cost $62 a month, and tuition that may have cost, at most back then, $4,000 a semester. At most. You are looking at him having nearly $3000 a year to live on. that is the equivalent of $20,000 a year to live on now. Their school did not cost $4000 a semester. | I've heard about that before. Hard to knock a man for giving that away. I put no stock in how someone paid for their education. If you were privileged enough to do it without needing a job or without loans and such, congrats. I wish I could have done that. Don't brag about having it rough financially though (not saying either of them have as I cannot recall ever hearing either one say it). I've worked as much as 3 jobs at one time while in school full time, and there are people who have a much harder time making ends meet than I do. I do take mild offense to someone who didn't even have to work bitching about how financially straining school was on them. Reply Back to Top |
quote: You can be unabashedly greedy and rich as long as you profess the liberal doctrine. They think wealth is cool as long as it's on their team. Look at how many Wall Streeters there are on the left. Reply Back to Top |

| One thing you do need to consider is that tuition was much, much cheaper when Romney was in college than today. Yes, even the private schools were affordable. Reply Back to Top |
| Yea yea i know. I just contributed to something i hate. People getting offended too damn easily. I'll never call somebody on it in person though unless its just somebody whose ignorrant to the fact that there is always somebody who has it worse. LA, wasnt the dollar worth a whole lot less back then also? Not sure how relevant that is, but i know my old man made (probably proportionally) less money working his college jobs than I do.
