| Stop Fighting Over The Tank! Posted by TigerinATL Some of us are taking the short term view and some of us are taking the long term view. It would matter if any of us were secretly Demps or Monty, but I don't think that's the case so we are all free to be fans in the way that helps us get more enjoyment out of the team, whether that's focusing on more hope for the future or living in the moment and trying to enjoy each game. At some point you just have to agree to disagree. ![]() This post was edited on 4/23 at 8:16 am Reply Back to Top |
| 21 vs 20 wins is pointless. One helps us potentially get a better draft pick. The other does nothing. TANK Reply Back to Top |
this is turning into a JJ/JL situation.....I can't wait for this season to be over so this shite will stop Reply Back to Top |

quote: That doesn't matter. I personally am pro tank but the anti tankers are aware of the mathematical possibilities and don't seem to care. They believe that they can have 22 victories and a top 3 pick. They may be wrong to believe that but you aren't going to convince them otherwise. I posted this because I went into last nights game thread to see how the 4th quarter collapse happened but I couldn't find it because it was all arguing over the tank. I just don't see much point to it anymore. Reply Back to Top |

| It would be one thing if losing out assured "long term" success or even substantially increased the odds in any way that is actually measurable. Alas, it does not. It is fool's gold. You do somewhat increase your odds of obtaining a higher pick, but people misinterpret and overstate the real life impact of those statistics. Some people discount other variables, the most glaring of which is that T-Rob, Sullinger, Drummond or other players may be stars while Davis could be a bust or suffer a career ending injury. Who the frick knows? Nobody on this board or in an NBA scouting department. My point is that anyone getting their cynical "real fan" or "wise or intelligent fan" panties in a wad if the Hornets had won last night simply misunderstands fact and probabilities. And they demonstrate their immaturity by calling out fans who cheer for a victory on a fan message board. Look, if we're going to lose I hope we catch a high draft pick. But fervently cheering for a loss in any individual game, whether at the end or the beginning of the season, is, in my opinion, ridiculous. ETA: Sorry for shitting on TiA's message of unity. | Sorry, but I will continue to blast tankers as a-holes and half-hearts as long as they keep bringing that shite up every fricking day. Reply Back to Top |

quote: We don't seem to care because the mathematical probabilities are just that, probabilities. You're looking for probabilities to counteract the improbabilities of finding a star in the NBA draft. Like VOR said, Tankers take those probabilities as a guarantee of future success, which is downright silly given the historical data that suggests otherwise. Reply Back to Top |

quote: Exactly. I wish they would stop acting like you need AD to win a championship Reply Back to Top |
quote: I'm more concerned with how far we potentially could fall. I've said all along I want a top 5-6 pick. At that spot we can still get an impact player by draft or trade, drop to 7 or 8 and the odds of getting an immediate impact player go down a lot. Still, the point of this thread is why keep beating a dead horse, but apparently some of you are enjoying it so carry on I suppose. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I don't think it as bad as you are making it. That MinnesotaTiger guy pissed a lot of people off in the thread with his trolling and outright cheering against the hornets. What you read was the backlash. Reply Back to Top |
