Was this the spark that OKC Thunder needed?
Posted by MinnesotaTiger on 4/22 at 9:15 pm
As a casual observer of the Thunder, it seemed like they had been playing without a ton of passion for the past few weeks. I still think that people who say they aren't the favorites to emerge from the West were a little silly, but it is certainly more in question now than it was say 6 weeks ago when they were playing their best ball of the season, dominating in the standings, etc.

Does anybody else think that the Artest blow to Harden's noggin was the spark that will fuel OKC to the West title? These are mostly young dudes, it was something seeing Perkins so fired up, and I think this might be a rallying cry for the Thunder heading into the playoffs.

Their likely 1st and 2nd round opponents are Dallas/Utah/Phoenix (1st) and LA Clippers/Memphis (2nd).

Who matches up best against them? Dallas? I think you'd have to favor young OKC against San Antonio in a potential WCF seeing as SAS would be pretty banged up by that round.

Why would they be banged up by then? Players will get more time off then they have the entire season.

It didn't spark them to a victory today.

if you need a spark to play well this close to the playoffs...well...I'd have to question your gamesmanship.

Its pretty wild that the teams get more rest during the playoffs rather than the regular season

The playoff games are at least twice as taxing and physical as regular season games. Especially when you get to games 3,4,5,6 when things get chippy and guys start to know each other and battle constantly.

Spurs won't hold up past the Western Semis IMO.

They blew a 15 point 4th quarter lead after the incident. If it didn't help them in that specific game, it's not gonna help them a month later.

Whether they win or lose, it won't proving your point in any way.
