Heath Evans: These LSU players enter the draft super talented. Need structure Posted by Rittdog on 4/17 at 1:49 am They were discussing QBs who failed in the NFL. So it wasnt just about LSU players. He started off saying the Raiders didnt provide structure for JaMarcus. He said JaMarcus Russell would have been different if he was drafted by a Tom Coughlin or Bill Belicheck. He would have been held accountable from day one. Also how veterans like Teddy Bruchsi(sp) would have set him straight day one. He then slipped in..."These LSU players enter the league super talented every year.." then jumped back to JaMarcus. Now there has been some debate about the struggles of LSU players in the league lately. Even the good ones like Bowe. People questioned his work ethic. I think Evans was just speaking what he feels. Dont think there was a bias...although it was interesting... I agree with him though. He seemed as if he would bet anything that JaMarcus Russell's career would have been far different if he played under a great organization. I guess in a way he's saying all would benefit from that. Especially the super talented LSU players who kind of get lost in the shuffle. Reply Back to Top
I don't think LSU players perform any better or any worse than most draftees from big time programs. I mean Jamarcus was a massive fail obviously but it looks like Flynn is going to be at least a decent success. Craig Davis was kind of a bust but Bowe is a top ten receiver and Early is doing well. It all evens out Reply Back to Top

Garbage. Randle, Claiborne, and Brockers have never been in any trouble as far as we know. Bowe had some trouble with former HC Haley but it was common for Haley to get under his WRs skin. I have never heard of Bowe having any legal trouble. And he has been one of the better WRs in the league. Evans must be talking about the Bar fight and the 3 players who were suspended for the Auburn game. Reply Back to Top

Jamarcus was/is still a young man. If he had a "want" he could still get some teams attention. How many chances did Leaf get? Oakland can't take the total blame for his failure. Reply Back to Top
I find a former Auburn player claiming prospects from another program are needing "Structure" hilarious. Reply Back to Top

I think your success as a player has alot to do with the structure but most importantly the veteran leadership on the teams. Lardarius Webb just signed a 6 year $50 million dollar contract extension with the Ravens. There is no way in hell he would have been this successful if he wouldn't have had Ed Reed and Ray Lewis holding his hand the whole way. I would say your success as a professional athlete has alot to do with your situation. Lardarius got put in a tremendous spot. Reply Back to Top
not seeing where he thinks LSU players need structure Reply Back to Top
I have a good mutual friend that played at Auburn with Heath... He has told me multiple times that he (Evans) hates LSU with a passion. This doesn't surprise me. This post was edited on 4/17 at 8:20 am Reply Back to Top
quote: Well if he does, he hides it pretty well. He's been on Moscona's show plenty of times and has participated in charity work in Baton Rouge before. He's a good dude. (sans the cigar incident) Reply Back to Top |
quote: Exactly. Everybody in this state now loves Heath Evans because he was on the Saints when we won the SuperBowl. Everyone seems to forget he was one of the Auburn cocksuckers who smoked cigars on the Tiger Stadium eye in the late 90's. frick Heath Evans, him and everyone else that is associated with Auburn can rot in hell. | Certain teams seem to like drafting LSU players... New England, Dallas and KC come to mind. I really do not care what Heath Evans thinks or says about LSU. Reply Back to Top |
Pot calling the kettle black? Didn't a recent Auburn #1 draft pick get busted for pot the other day (Fairley)? Oh, and these guys didn't make it to the NFL, but it hardly paints a picture of structure within the Auburn program: "Antonio Goodwin, Michael McNeil, Shaun Kitchens and Dakota Mosley were on Auburn University's National Championship team when they were arrested in March of 2011 after an alleged home invasion and armed robbery. The former football players are accused of robbing five people at gunpoint at an Auburn mobile home earlier that month." LINK Reply Back to Top
