| He was DRT and the suspect is on the loose. Shotgun shot to the back, arm and head. Kind of odd for that type of gun to be used. Reply Back to Top |
| Not in that particular area just baton rouge in general. I loved it the first 3 years I was there. That love slowly but surely grew into a burning hatred. Its a shame that a college I love so much has to be located in a city I hate so bad and it all stems from the migration of crime This post was edited on 4/15 at 4:40 am Reply Back to Top |
| Tend to agree with atreux on situations like this. Don't get involved in the game and you most likely won't be involved in stuff like this. Of course I could be wrong but this is how stuff like this usually works itself out. The only reason this thread exists is because it's in a area around college bars. It's amazing to me that people don't realize shite like this happens all night, every night in baton rouge This post was edited on 4/15 at 4:45 am Reply Back to Top |
| How much of this type of shite happening right here around campus will parents allow before refusing to send their kids there? Im sorry it may be wrong morally but this part of the city is more important than most, that's just the way it is. If we can't portray the campus as safe for daddys little girl and mommas little man then they are going to start being reluctant to foot that tuition bill This post was edited on 4/15 at 4:49 am Reply Back to Top |
quote: Do you think random kids are just being shot in bar parking lots? Surely there are the extremely rare incidents where someone actually does shoot someone but that's all over the nation. You make it seem as if the entire college population in tigerland is under attack. Reply Back to Top |
| Parents of seniors are eventually not going to see what type of person gets shot they are just going to see that ANOTHER human being was killed on LSU's doorsteps today. I may be over exaggerating (I don't believe I am but I admit its possible) but you have to agree that this is not good for the city school nor state and something has to be done to correct this problem Reply Back to Top |
| 3 weeks after the last shooting, Brpd's "beefed up" patrolling of that area ended. I knew it was a matter of time til this happeneded again. Reply Back to Top |
| I spent my 3rd year at LSU living in an apartment on the third (back) street in Tigerland. It was pretty bad, manageable, but definitely different than where the LSUgreekkids live They had this ghetto white guy who would walk around the hood, and one day he had a sale on the sidewalk, with speakers, cd's, etc. all on a table. I almost died Reply Back to Top |
quote: What colleges are safe? Ever hear of derek todd lee? What about that Girl that was shot and her car burned @ auburn. shite look at Penn State. I mean have you been living under a fricking rock? I havent even scratched the surface of bad shite that happens at universities. This post was edited on 4/15 at 5:58 am Reply Back to Top |
| So just because it happens elsewhere you are perfectly ok with violent crime becoming associated with the university that you love and will hopefully one day send your sons or daughters???? Cause im not... if we can't or wont fix the problem in tiger land (which would obviously be the best solution) we need to remove all association that tigerland has with the university which can only happen if the students decide to put their safety and peace of mind above of all else and just leave the area Reply Back to Top |
| "peace for our time", eh? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Remind me again what the association between the two is other than the word tiger? You people are fricking rediculous (not only directed at you). I seriously can't figure out how to make you people understand that shootings like this are not random. You guys make it sound like someone walked into the Reggie's parking lit and opened fire. Yes I understand it could make Lsu look bad but it's obvious that the majority of posters here have no idea what they are talking about Reply Back to Top |

Although it's a cause for concern, the violence it not as big as you make it seem. The majority of murders that occur on a college campus are committed by students on other students, if this starts happening then maybe a cause for serious concern. Reply Back to Top |
| Im not following what you're referencing but ill take a stab at it. Yes the second best option and really the only option the average LSU student has is to ensure his or hers own safety and stay away from areas like tigerland. Its really not safe anymore don't risk it. You probably wont get robbed or beat or shot or killed but it isreally happening more andthan more. are you really willing to make that gamble against your life when the most you can win is a drunken hookup with a mediocre sorosritute that all of your friends have banged? | It's frustrating that you have no idea what you are talking about Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this discussion This post was edited on 4/15 at 6:20 am Reply Back to Top |

And I don't frequent Tigerland anymore (nor have i for quite a while) but nevertheless can't stand the attitude of retreat and surrender that pervades much of BR. I'm more of a Churchill guy This post was edited on 4/15 at 6:25 am Reply Back to Top |
quote: Is that Tigerland is commonly known to be THE lsu student hangout. Now it isn't LSU's responsibility to protect these kids off campus (it would be in the best interest I would think though) so I don't blame them. It is most definitely in the cities best interest to protect its young people however in order to do that they need to clean up the ONLY area under classmen can gather. They don't even seem to be attempting that so the students need to create a new scene. A safe scene, or at least safe in the meantime. It baffles me how little everyone cares about what is going on right on our young peoples door step. Look I've only been out of br a year. Im no means old and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got out, I made excuses for everything that happened. But there is no excuse for allowing tiger land to get into the condition it is in and now we are fighting what might possibly a battle that is already lost. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
