Can we expect more penalties next season?
Posted by Lsuhoohoo on 4/7 at 11:30 am
I'm afraid that either by fuhrer Goodell's instruction or by the officials interpretation of the Saints as a dirty defense, we're going to see a near record number of defensive penalties.

My guess is we wont receive any benefit of the doubt calls. Anything close or questionable will result in personal fouls. Especially on the road where fickle fans who label us as thugs will influence officials calls.

My hunch is that Goodell sticks this to us as one last punishment and instructs his officials to watch the Saints defense like hawks and we'll be called for ticky tack shite all the time like PI, defensive holding and questionable personal fouls.

Wouldn't the Saints be the team least likely to have a bounty system next year?? Besides Williams is gone.

Sure. Doesn't mean we won't have the stigma of a dirty defense.

As long as Mike Carey is still breathing there WILL be more penalties next year

Honestly I don't think it will make a difference.

Refs will call them the way they see them.

This.

Although I fully expect that every time a ref blows a call against us this fall, there will be a dozen threads created about how the league is trying to screw us.

Well that would happen regardless of the bounty situation.

Ditch Vilma and that contract and we pretty much have a clean slate to work with. We are going to win America back with tough fundamental football.

Not if it is clear-cut. It would at least have to be a questionable call.

The Saints will feel like they are playing Alabama or Auburn inside the state of Alabama in every game.

Yea, it deserved 3 of 'em.
A) Bitter much?
B) It's like LSU never gets any calls. I mean, they never got the interception call when they played bama the 1st time. Nor did they ever get ANY calls against UT a season ago in which it altered the outcome of the game.
Nope.
Never get any calls.

No - it was - but ONLY because it was called that on the field. Had it been ruled a catch, it would have remained a catch.
The point wasn't the actual play but to point out whining.

I agree with what some other folks said. Saints fans now have an easy way out for EVERY penalty. "Well that wasn't really a personal foul - Roger Goodell just signaled the 'screw louisiana' signal so they called it on us". Blah blah blah.

I dont know what I'm looking forward to less. The media saying something about bounties everytime we make a tackle the whole season, or my own fellow fans whining everytime a flag is thrown no matter what. Ug
