Tired of reading it. TJ failed here, period.

It means he did not fit good.

TCU boards keep saying that Trent wasn't a "good fit" at LSU and will be a "good fit" at TCU.

I think it means TCU has lower expectations than LSU. Trent will be a good fit at TCU because they are ok with mediocrity, at least for now.

I think otherwise, it is a bull shite concept. Coaching is the same everywhere you go. And LSU should be an easier place to succeed than TCU.

There are plenty of coaches that can be successful at one school, and perhaps not at another. This can be due to geography, culture, personality, facilities, style of play, etc.

It's not a hard concept to understand. There are dozens of examples of this all over the country.

I think it makes perfect sense in football, but not so much in basketball.

maybe. maybe not.

consider this: for 2011-2012 there were no Louisiana high school players in the rivals top 100. There are lots of Texas schoolboy players who are top 100 every year. So... TCU might get a couple of good Christian boys who are also 4 star basketball players. They are out there to be gotten, anyway.

Trent has already learned to deal with recruiting for a private school with higher academic standards than TCU. His one great season at Stanford was 28 wins, and it was his last year there before he went to LSU. It was his 4th season, giving LSU the impression that once he got 'his guys' he could field a winning team.

But doesn't the coach determine the style of play?

I can understand culture/personality because it probably deals more with expectations of a fan base.

Don't really see why geography matters, just an excuse for a coach to not do his best I guess, if he isn't happy where he is. Kinda weak excuse.

Certainly in this case, the facilities will make for a worse fit at TCU

Basketball recruiting is so national based, a really good recruiter should be able to pull to any school.

Trent just isn't a good recruiter, locally or nationally.

It won't change at TCU. Those "4 star Texas kids" that you say will wind up at TCU, should have wound up at LSU as well... but they didn't.

It means Tj tried to win in an academic way at lsu. Truly recruit student athletes not one and done type players. This is tough to do in the sec and the south. That's tjs mo and it doesn't work at a school like lsu. That's it.

I will always admire Trent for how he approached his job. With the history of dirt the LSU program has had, IMO, he cleaned up the image. Did that cost him recruits and more importantly, connections in state? Absolutely. The losses and roster holes fall on him. He did it his way, for better or worse.

When LSU decides to jump into the top of SEC in basketball budget(like expanding our staff), LSU will once again be a top school in the conference.

Makes sense I guess... especially 2 and 4.

PS - the "poor fit" part still bugging me. So are we saying TJ is a solid recruiter but he didnt click with LA recruits or southern recruits?

What does food have anything to do with it? He doesnt like Cajun/Creole? WGAF?

I have never seen his political views. What are they and give me an example of how that hurt his time here.
