| Question about two 2013 recruits from Dutchtown HS Posted by Al Bundy Bulldog What do you guys know about Dutchtown HS players Shelby Christy a WR and Keith Elias a DE? Christie was offered by Mississippi State on Monday and said if LSU doesn't offer him he will likely commit to State. Elias is a 6'2" 255lb DE who hasn't been offered but his HC thinks HE will be offerered when he goes to Mississippi State's Jr. Day next weekend. Any info is appreciated. | Good players that will probably not be offered unless we miss on some OOS guys. Reply Back to Top |
| Don't know about either personally. I can say (as someone posted in a thread about Christy last week) that Shelby will have to beat out about 4 WRs we are currently recruiting (plus two current commitments) to get an offer. Don't know if there will be space. This post was edited on 3/21 at 7:55 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: Our Staff at Mississippi State really seems to be re recruiting the State of Louisiana really hard for next years class. Reply Back to Top |

| At least two jucos and massington are in front of him for WR Reply Back to Top |
| Neither of them will be offered by us so feel free to take them ... LSU is boycotting Dutchtown for the forseable future Reply Back to Top |

| Shelby is definitely a good player and would be worth giving a scholarship, but we have bigger fish in our sights, but he's definitely an SEC caliber player. Don't know about the DE. We're not going to sign as many as usual this year. Reply Back to Top |
| His name is David Elias. Reply Back to Top |

quote: Unless he comes to camp and performs really well and they miss on a number of other targets (both in-state and out), he's not going to be offered especially with numbers being tight this year. Reply Back to Top |

| What about the Elias kid? I have heard a lot of good things about him. He plays DE now but his HS coach thinks he will eventually be a DT in college. Dandy Don really likes him and has him as his 6th best in state kid, im not sure if thats good or bad. State is also hard after 2 other top 10 kids on Dandy Don's list. #7 Duke Riley from John Curtis (we just signed his good friend Torrey Bell) and Ryan Hoefeld an OL from Brother Martin. We also are about to offer the RB from Denham Springs, I have heard his mother went to State but not sure. Im guessing we will offer a ton of Louisiana kids this year and probably sign at least 5 This post was edited on 3/22 at 10:29 am Reply Back to Top |
quote: I can't speak for the kid because I don't know him or where he stands. I'm pretty comfortable saying he's not going to get an LSU offer. quote: Not sure where things stand with Hoefield now that Fanaika signed. LSU may no longer have a need at center in this class, which is where Hoefield was going to be slotted. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Like I said it seems as if State is hitting Louisiana hard, and it seems there are prospects we are after that play positions we are in the need for (WR, LB, OL) and LSU is filling up at, or have higher rated prospects out of state you are going after. quote: There are going to be a number of legitimate D-1 prospects and SEC caliber players this year in La. that LSU can't sign because of numbers. Some other schools are going to get very good players. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I'm really glad our staff is going after these kids, This year is a down year in Mississippi. Top heavy with about 7-8 solid SEC prospects but thin after that. I really believe we are recruiting Louisana harder than any other state outside of Mississippi this year. Another kid I like we are recruiting is Sergia Medina out of Hahnville.
