Jones was most famous for his role in the pop group The Monkees, which was put together in 1965 for the TV show of the same name. Their hits included "Daydream Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm a Believer," and "Pleasant Valley Sunday." They also charted with the theme song from the show. LINK Oh no. Check out the Beatles music on 1966-68 and you will see they (the Beatles) were light years ahead; while the Monkees were still doing the beat music of the early to mid 60's. I am a fan of the Monkees, and watched their show in the 60's when it was on Tv, but the Beatles are on a far different level of talent. I will admit to being a Beatle fan before they came to America and even bought their album before they came over. And we all watched Ed the night they came on his show the first time. quote: Definitely not influenced musically but I think they dug the look the Monkees had. A lot of their early photo shots were in matching outfits like the Monkees sometimes did. I think they may have also liked there stage presence to because they just stood and made faces during the early days too. It might be their promotions people were influenced by them.
