| So, was he into anything or did he just have a bad heart? He wasn't looking too good, even for 66. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Davey was the one all of the girls liked. He was David Cassidy's equal with the teenaged girls and didn't seem like as much of a prick. Yea, I was jealous of all of those pretty boys. The Monkees was a really cool show when I was in elementary school. My oldest brother's female friends were big fans of these guys. Davey Jones & David Cassidy were the Biebers of the 60's. Posted by tigger1 on 2/29 at 8:20 pm to MadMaxwell MadMaxwell, the Beatles were fans of the Monkees that is a fact, influenced by the Monkeys doubtful. Check out the Beatles music on 1966-68 and you will see they (the Beatles) were light years ahead; while the Monkees were still doing the beat music of the early to mid 60's. I am a fan of the Monkees, and watched their show in the 60's when it was on Tv, but the Beatles are on a far different level of talent. I will admit to being a Beatle fan before they came to America and even bought their album before they came over. And we all watched Ed the night they came on his show the first time. | Last Train To Clarksville was a very underrated song. And the two Neil Diamond compositions (I'm A Beliver & A Little Bit You, A Little Bit Me) were awesome Reply Back to Top |
quote: Definitely not influenced musically but I think they dug the look the Monkees had. A lot of their early photo shots were in matching outfits like the Monkees sometimes did. I think they may have also liked there stage presence to because they just stood and made faces during the early days too. It might be their promotions people were influenced by them. I always heard that Michael Nesmith was the only real musician among them. I think his dad invented Post-its or super-glue. This post was edited on 2/29 at 9:58 pm Reply Back to Top |
