I'm talking Pre-Cassette/CD/MP3 crowd, and what YOU or YOUR FRIENDS had--not what Billboard said were the most popular (although they may be one and the same)

1.) Kiss Alive II
2.) Fleetwood Mac Rumours
3.) Eagles Hotel California
4.) Foreigner 4
5.) AC/DC Back in Black
6.) Michael Jackson Thriller

Take out Kiss, and move Thriller to #1, and you've got my list.

I see some posters have reading comprehension issues as to the specifics of the OP.

The LP's I remember everyone having was Carol King's 'Tapestry' and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Even though I was a kid in the 70s, I still looked through other people's LP collections whenever I had the opportunity.

The first music I ever personally bought was the Car's 'Heartbeat City', but by that time LPs were on the way out, cassettes were the thing, and CD's were on the horizon.

Urban Cowboy Soundtrack and Slippery when Wet are the 2 that stick out the most.

My aunt had Foreigner and Leif Garrett
