"This was an unusual situation to end the game," said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “After a thorough review, we have determined that the officials fell short of the high standard in which Pac-12 games should be managed. We will continue to work with all our officials to ensure this type of situation never occurs again."

The article says there are sanctions but doesn't list anything.

I respect conferences that admit when the referees make a mistake.

The SEC never does that.

I don't know how they could remain silent after all of that. It was bad. Wisconsin got screwed.

Told you. Worst call I have seen in a long time. Kid clearly took a knee. They didn't reset the ball right away (given the situation officials are usually all over that sort of thing). Didn't force the ASU players to get off the ball. Then, didn't bother to put time back on the clock once it was clear a disaster was unfolding.

ASU got the win, but they didn't deserve it.

Lets not assume Wisky makes the kick - hell I've seen far far far closer kicks missed - Boise State anyone?

Refs did muck it up but Stave did himself no favors either.

ASU outplayed Wisky for most of the game...though - it's not like they got lucky the entire game.

They caught a break by incompetent refs at the very end...which only would have given Wiksy a shot for the win...

Pac 12 has always always always always had the worst refs in the league. I am numb to their frick ups against USC.

Well, it was a close back and forth game, and them getting the CHANCE to kick it doesn't mean it was automatic. To say they dont deserve it is a bit misleading.

I said that they followed the rules, which is true. Notice that the Pac-12 didn't cite any rule that the officials failed to follow. They more or less are saying that the officials should have been quicker ("high standard").

If Wisconsin hadn't blown the game, they wouldn't have to rely on the officials' "standard."

Pac 12 refs are the absolute worst. If I was an AD setting up a home and home with a P12 school, I would demand no P12 officials for both games. The conference seems to have been proactive in improving officiating the past few years under Larry Scott but it is worse now.

Hell, in the UCLA/Nebraska game in Lincoln (but a P12 officiating crew), a ref signaled a FG to be good when it was clearly wide. Luckily replay overturned it.

Notice the Pac-12 is not saying that a defensive delay of game should have been called.

This is a PR move by the Pac-12 to appease people. They're saying that the officials should have had a bit more skip in their step, which would have been very useful in making sure the ball was spotted sooner so that Wisconsin could watch the clock hit :00 and still not be set.

You also said there was no problem with the amount of time they took to spot the ball, which was the main problem everyone was talking about. You were wrong, and it has been confirmed.

That is one carefully worded PC statement.

Not exactly. The amount of time the officials are supposed to take in a case like this is not clearly defined, so it's a matter of opinion.

What's awesome about that - it appears he wasn't even looking up.

Nothing will beat the Oklahoma - Oregon on-side kick game which I was at.

Not only did Oregon not even recover the football - OU did - they signaled Oregon ball with a player laying on NOTHING - but they reviewed the damn play and gave the ball to Oregon.

...but their forte is calling phantom P.I. calls in the final minutes when a team is down.

Yes, and your opinion is obviously misguided and ignorant...and not shared by anyone with common sense, nor shared by the people who evaluate the performance of those you were so blindly supporting yesterday.

I was there as well. I also went to the OU/Boise Fiesta Bowl game later that year to witness their two unique losses of that season.
