If the football gods are on our side, we'll finally get our Alabama-Oregon national championship. And if Saturday is any indicator, it could be quite the send-off for the BCS in Pasadena, Calif.

If Alabama is in the BCS CG for the 3rd year in a row the football Gods are not on our side.

How about the 2010 BCS title game? The one Auburn won on a last-second field goal?

ETA what exactly are you going for here?

Horribly worded post. The OP thread is word for word an article by Rece Davis (I think it's Rece).

Basically, the article says the world wants Alabama versus Oregon, and he (OP) says that because LSU beat Oregon, then Alabama should beat Oregon. You know, because the transitive property is more useful than identifying individual matchups.

A good defense will always beat a good offense. Oregon would lose to a great SEC team 9 out 10 times.

especially 2 years later when both teams are vastly different

Not even letting the season play itself out

puhleeze, they damn near beat Auburn. It was a fluke run by Dwyer that set up the game winning FG.

Oregon lit up the score board in 2010, got to the BCS title game, and only put up 19 points to a defense that was one of the league's worst. Auburn's offense wasn't that hot either.

You give a great team a month off to prepare and rest, they are going to slow down hurry-up, no huddle offenses.

Meh, that whole game was weird, and against all of each team's previous trends. I don't think it can be used as an example for anyone's argument either way...

I agree with this. Good offenses have beaten good defenses plenty of times.

Oregon still lost, or did I watch a different game? And how about their score versus what they had been doing to everyone else that year? Good job arguing against yourself though.

And their weak pansy-arse defense held Auburn to less points than every SEC team but one. That includes LSU and Alabama giving up more points to Auburn than Oregon did.

What does that have to do with oregon's offense basically getting shut down that game?

ETA: I'm loving these moral victories y'all are trying to claim fr that game.

Oregon has a much better qb now, so it isn't quite the same match up.
