Obama care changes for 2014 and maternity???

I don't post on this board at all, not sure if the correct spot, but I seem to see Obama care discussed on here quite a bit.

I am self insured with my wife through Humana. We have a few other supplementals as well. We specifically chose one without maternity. Ones that did cover were obviously much more,(around 600 a month) and you would not even be covered for a year.

Anyways I was told recently that maternity must be included on all insurance. Is this true? Will this raise my rates to what I've agreed to?

Maternity coverage is generally worthless anyway, at least for a routine pregnancy. You pay just as much for it as you would if you just paid the hospital.

The only real reason to have a maternity rider is for complications--that can get expensive fast. I wouldn't know the exact cost and coverage since I'm a single male.

Exactly why we opt out of it. I can save more than I would spend and pay cash. My regular insurance would clover any issues if there is a problem. I just want to make sure I am not going to have to now pay for it.

I just signed up for individual coverage with Humana, literally 90 minutes ago. Pregnancy is excluded with the exception of specific complications as defined in the policy. (Obviously this is a standard list for individual and family policies).

I would interpret that to mean maternity coverage in general is not part of the policy. Of course, I live in Mississippi so my policy might be different.
