Does this seem kind if stuck up/rude?

Wife got one for our upcoming baby. I think some may think its rude, especially the older women.

However, you wouldn't believe how many strangers just come up and start touching your baby. Unless you have them of course. Anywhere you go people just come up and want to touch a random baby that they don't even know. I know they're being nice but still.

Over cautious or reasonable?

nah, it's not rude. By all means keep that sign if you want to raise a weak child who will get sick all the time because you didn't want your unique snowflake to be exposed to germs in a world filled with germs.

Overly cautious imo but well within your rights as a parent. Your kid, do whatever you feel you need to do.

your kid coming in contact with everyday germs isn't going to hurt them... if anything, it will benefit their immune system in the long run.

I get your point but people really should wash up before handling a new born.

I think a better sign would be

"Please do not touch me. That means my hands and cheeks too."

Newborns shouldn't be out and about. And people at your house should wash their hands.

She thinks he's gonna get aids or something? Just breast feed a lot. They need to roll around in germs.

How will your baby be able to protect herself if you never let her get a little dirty. (immune system) needs a kick in the arse every now in then!

I just tell people not to.

My reasoning? What would you do if I just came up and started tickling you? Probably laugh for a second because you're being tickled then punch me.

Just because its a baby doesn't mean you should invade personal space.

Stuck up, but it's your kid. I think it is actually ridiculous and you should be embarrassed
