Cutting and throwing a pecan tree (Updated with Pic)
Posted by braindeadboxer on 6/11 at 9:33 pm
I put in an offer on a house today. It has a ginormous old pecan tree fairly close to the house. If I pay someone to cut and throw it how much $$ am I looking at? My dad said around $2k as it will have to possibly be cut twice and not just topping it and taking it down dude to there being no room in the front yard. I think that's high but I'm clueless.

TIA

I'm not sure how to price that but 2K would not surprise me.

What's the approximate trunk diameter?

I asked a similar question of my friends recently and was told to expect 1500-2000.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that it's 2-3 foot. But it's extremely tall

Normally I'd do it myself but it's too close to the house for me to feel comfortable trying it. No room for error on any side.

You may want to grind the stump too. They have tap roots. When it rots I (many years) it could leave a soft spot.

I agree with your thinking. You could cause 2K of damage in a heartbeat if that tree twisted and fell on your house or on a neighbor's.

Getting rid of the wood isn't the problem. Putting the tree on the ground and not on a house is the issue.

Geauxtiga: missed it, I'll catch up with you sometime before then on here.

A high liability job like that won't be cheap.

You're looking at $1k to get it on the ground probably

To save some $ just get a professional to get eh tree on the ground and then you take it from there to cut up and give away/haul off. Just did this for a pecan tree at my camp.

Why didnt you make the offer contingent on them removing the tree
