Ariel Castro punched Amanda Berry in stomach to force miscarriages
Posted by Revelator on 5/9 at 5:09 am
Suppose the couple was married and Amanda wanted him to punch her in the stomach to cause a miscarriage? Would her husband be absolved from punishment because Amanda chose to have her body pummelled and her baby expelled in the process?

If a parasitic tissue mass is prevented from staying alive after being expelled from the host does anyone care?

"Dr."(sic) Gosnell and PP certainly doesn't care. And they are in charge of "women's health."

I'll refine the scenario further and perhaps get some answers? A man and his pregnant wife are at the mall. She is 3 months pregnant and the husband starts kicking her in the belly. A shocked mall crowd jumps on the man and someone calls the police. The woman shouts," no, no, don't hurt my husband." "I decided I don't want this baby and told him to force a miscarriage!"
Is the woman and her husband absolved from punishment because its her body and choice?

I wish for them to have a fair, just, and quick as hell trial not one a la Jodie Arias pulled off. Let them all be very afraid when they are released into the general population, it will be justice delivered each and every day.

I think we all share that sentiment, but that isn't my question.

In my court they wouldn't be but the way laws are being interpreted and enforced/not enforced nowadays, it would be a tossup how a judge or jury would rule on your scenario.

According to Jeauxbleaux and a doublehand full of others on here, they would say the woman is within her rights to tell her husband to start kicking the shite out of her.

I just cannot imagine what goes through one's mind to use such a tragic story of human suffering to try to make a point concerning one's unrelated agenda.

And what would make the judge feel a forced miscarriage at the hands of her husband were any different than an abortion performed at a clinic?

The beating would be consensual so perhaps no battery or abuse charges, but the purpose was to cause an abortion.

So, he is practicing medicine without a license and she is an aiding and abetting co-conspirator.

Rev, I really don't know anymore how judges rule one way or the other and why they do it. Thirty years ago both the man and woman would have had their arse thrown in jail for some reason, right or wrong, and nobody would have said anything. But today, we as a civilized nation have "progressed" to let people to do as they may their own bodies.

Yes and abortion isn't the only issue that is convoluted because of the purposely blurred lines between black and white. With the advent of same sex marriages, transgendered persons, people being allowed to go into a different genders dressing room because they view themselves as a different sex than the one they were born under. It's a crazy world.

Please spare me the feigned exasperation! The left uses every tragedy to try and score political points so don't impugn me for using the same techniques.

My guess would be 'no,' because abortions must be performed by 'doctors.'

This is an interesting angle, but it wouldn't change the ultimate event. In both, the baby would die because the woman wanted it.

I see some news laws coming or some old ones being amended somewhere down the road. Five different judges with five different reasons for their interpretation of the law just isn't going to get it anymore.

Several cans of worms have been opened and snakes are crawling out.

How do you think the left would handle it if Obama held all the same positions he does now, except he was strongly pro life? And instead of using the national stage like he did by parading Sandy Hook parents to demand gun control, he brought women who had experienced botched abortions and tried to overturn Rowe? How would the messiah be handled then?
