just recently watched 127 Hours

I remember the hype around this film back in 2010, but never watched it for whatever reason. After recently hearing James Franco interviewed on Howard Stern I decided to check it out and wow! without spoiling anything for those who have absolutely no idea what the true story is about, even going into the movie knowing what happens didn't matter. the way this film was directed, the cinematography, the sound editing, the musical choices, and the best James Franco performance of his career made it will worth the watch.

as cheesy as it sounds, I felt motivated, happy, and proud after watching it. excellent film.

Well that's just great. Thanks for ruining it. Why don't you just tell me how long he was stuck for while you're at it.

Even though you know exactly what's coming, the payoff is still incredible. Awesome movie.

I have not got around to watching this either, despite it sitting on the DVR for nearly two years. Is the arm cutting scene as gruesome as I have heard it is?

I'm glad someone made this thread. I watched this movie for the first time ab 6 months ago and wow, I agree with the OP, the way its filmed and the message it gets across is strong. Not to mention the moving and tear jerking score throughout some of the heavier scenes. It made me have some pep in my step after seeing it thats for sure, I also bought Aron Ralston's book and read it, good read.

They certainly don't pull any punches on it, I've never seen a human arm shredded apart, but I'd imagine this is what it would like like. Really though, if you've watched any number of violent movies, youve seen stuff like it onscreen already.

watch this clip from the original trailer starting at the 1:15 mark.

the theme "Funeral" by Band of Horses that starts playing gives me chills every time I hear it now.

yes, powerful song no doubt.

****SPOILER ALERT****

The part right before he breaks his 2 arm bones and begins the amputation, when he sees his future son, and he has the flashback to him and his sister playing piano as kids had me bawling.

Girl I know tried telling me that the guy the movie is about faked getting lost and cut his arm off for attention.

I read the book before movie came out, and I was really happy with the movie version. Ralston's book is riveting, and he goes in to much more detail on how stupid he was to get in that situation, why he was the way he was, and how he finally came to the conclusion that his arm would be the death of him. He was a guy who took a LOT of foolish risks throughout his life, and it finally caught up with him.

Franco did an awesome job of conveying the gamut of emotions that Ralston goes through out there.

It's definitely worth the read.

I watched it a while back and then went online afterwards to read more about it, and I remember reading when they went back to the scene, it took like 15 guys and a hydraulic jack to move the boulder to get his severed arm out.

Ralston in his own words about the amputation
Pretty graphic description. Might not want to listen to it while you eat your breakfast.
