Plus if you kept asking that guy at the brewery about Maven what's her name he would hook you up. Seems like everyone is trying to stab you in the back. Thieves guild, mercs and wizards. Not to mention the two factions you have to decide between.

I guess just like real politics. You can't trust anyone

It's not so bad when you can summon dual dremora lords to deal with those pesky back-stabbers. Anyways, I sided with the Empire. Wasn't a big fan of the storm cloaks

This is about a video game, yes, but admins, please don't move this thread. It's about a type of media and it's potential influence on political thought. I know lots of gamers also post on the PoliBoard.

If you played it, who did you side with?

Why? Was it an emotional decision, a philosophical one, or just because one seemed more fun?

In the year and a half since I've gotten the game, I've actually played through both factions.

Having played Morrowind and Oblivion, I probably side with the Imperials because... well, because that's just how the series is supposed to go?

Philosophically, they're both 'wrong' - the Empire shouldn't have imposed religious restrictions on the Nords; the Nords should have realized the Empire was playing for time until they reclaimed their lands.

Typically, I go with the Empire, because the 'real' war is on hold, not over. Without an alliance, humans are screwed...

Ulfric working for the elves was a solid twist, IMO.

First time: Empire because I liked their armor better and they used shiny swords instead of battle axes.

Second time: Stormcloaks just the hear "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say.

Third time: Neither, just played the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood story lines and then proceded to attempt to kill everyone in Skyrim. You'd be surprised at how many people just won't fricking die. And I stole and fenced everything in sight. I think the third play through most accurately describes my political beliefs as I am an Anarchist-Libertarian according to some on this board.
