Your reason isn't why they have the right to marry though. They have the right to marry because Loving v Virginia says
"The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men." It doesn't say anything about procreation. YOu added that, and you think it is justified in Skinner v. Oklahoma which you didn't read because if you had you would know that is says "Marriage and procreation are fundamental to the very existence and survival of the race." thus stating people have both rights, but you don't have to do one to have the other.

The whole skinner case wasn't about marriage it was about sterilizing criminals.

I actually mistyped in my last post. I meant to say Skinner didn't say procreation in marriage was a right. I hope the quote that is the only reference to marriage in Skinner opinion clears that up.

I want the SCOTUS to declare homosexuals a suspect class and strike down any statute that discriminates against U.S. citizens on the basis of sexual orientation.

Mainly because it will produce months, if not years, of entertainment on the Poliboard. Far beyond what we have now (which is pretty good).

Your arguments contradict each other. You can't say procreation is the only reason for marriage and allow some people who can't procreate to marry and not others.

More bull shite. I explained that the SCOTUS ruled in Loving only a man and a woman regardless of race are allowed to marry since they ensure our very existence and survival which is the future procreation of the entire human race. That's why heterosexual couples AS A WHOLE are allowed to marry even some Heterosexual couples who can't procreate while homosexual couples AS A WHOLE are not allowed to marry since no homosexual couple can procreate at all.

Rome before Augustus?

So you want us to go back to doing what was done before 18 BC in regards to marriage while at the same time you and the other supporters of SSM scream how old fashioned the opponents of SSM are because we want to continue doing what was done in the 20th century in regards to marriage.

quote:

Doctors don't have a right to be paid more. They deserve to be paid more because they have a higher skill level and people are willing to pay more for that. The government doesn't go around insuring no janitor is paid more than a doctor. Teachers are better educated and more beneficial to society than basketball players, but they don't get paid as much. The government also has nothing to do with that. Your confusing equal in the eyes of the law as equal in the private sector.

No I'm not. You say homosexuals couples should have the equal right to marry as heterosexual couples because a homosexual couple is also two human beings.

Using your logic, a janitor should have the equal right to get paid the same as a doctor simply because a janitor is also a human being.

I know that's what you want to do because that's the only why you could possibly get the SCOTUS to rule that denying homosexuals the right to marry someone of the same sex violates the Constitution.

Loving says this

"The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men."

"Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival. Skinner v. Oklahoma, 316 U.S. 535, 541 (1942). See also Maynard v. Hill, 125 U.S. 190 (1888). To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discriminations. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual, and cannot be infringed by the State."

It doesn't say marriage is only for procreation only that procreation in marriage is important for our survival.

Skinner says

"We are dealing here with legislation which involves one of the basic civil rights of man. Marriage and procreation are fundamental to the very existence and survival of the race"

also doesn't say marriage is only for procreation. Only that the right to procreate and the right to marry are basic human rights and important for our survival.

And "marriage" was defined as "a union of a man and a woman" when the SCOTUS said that.

It is a vital personal right essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men because everyone has the right to marry someone of the opposite sex regardless of race because it ensures our very existence and survival.

I've read Skinner many times and it says "Marriage and procreation..."

It doesn't say "marriage or Procreation..." or "marriage and/or procreation..."

That means marriage and procreation together are fundamental to the very existence and survival of the race.

So you can't split marriage and procreation apart.

quote:

The whole skinner case wasn't about marriage it was about sterilizing criminals.

I know that.

Where dio they define marriage? Where do they say everyone has the right to marry solely because it is necessary for survival?

It also doesn't say marriage for procreation or procreation in marriage. YOu have the right to freedom of speech and religion.
does that mean if you don't have religion you don't get to free speech anymore?

I like baseball and blowjobs. Can I go to a baseball game getting a bj? Because baseball doesn't really do it for me like that.

Don't think there are a lot clearer ways of saying that procreation in marriage is necessary for survival? These were some of the best legal writers of their time. THey knew how to say what they meant.

I'm glad Louisiana isn't becoming a shitty state like these northern states.

You can do that but I believe it is better to give benefits and privileges to the biological parents of a children in order to try to help them have a more stable family unit in which to raise their child because it is better for the child to be with their biological parents in a stable family unit than for that child to be adopted by another couple including a homosexual couple.

Then ,if you're intellectually honest and really believe this, you should support gay marriage because gay and lesbian couples have kids and have families, and hat doesn't change with or without gay marriage so if you think it is better for the child to be with their biological parents in a stable family which marriage helps stabilize, you should support gay marriage.

Otherwise you're a liar who doesn't believe what he posts.

So which is it? Are you a liar or do you support gay marriage?

Temptation too much for you? Like dieting and not wanting to see someone else enjoying a cheeseburger?
