Peche - A couple questions

Have heard good things so far on this board. Finally making it back home next weekend and wanting to try it out. Hoping it's not too crowded with jazz fest going on that weekend too.

Are all three chef's there at the same time? Having not eaten at their previous restaurants yet, what to expect? (How laid back is it?)

Lunch reservations required? Any sort of dress code or are jeans and polo fine?

Lastly, for those who've been, what was your favorite menu item there? (Going with a non-seafood eater, has anyone had the chicken or beef dish they have on the menu?)

Jeans and polo are fine and I would make reservations immediately. When I went all three owners were on the line. The worst case scenario is that Ryan Prewitt, who ran Herbsaint for years, is handling the line by himself. He can cook his arse off so you'll be in good hands no matter who is running things the day you go. The shrimp noodle dish is great if you like that sort of thing as is the spring onion/crawfish gratinee. They're sourcing amazing oysters and at least a half dozen should be ordered unless you simply don't care for them.

The grilled whole fish looked really great but I was too full from small plates to get an entree. Next time I'll definitely be trying that.

The place is great. I saw all 3 chefs on Friday night.
As discussed, dress is casual like most NOLA spots.

Make reservations. Always.

The crawfish gratin, red shrimp, and the mussels. Mussels are a must order. IMO.

I do suggest hitting the raw bar. I didn't on my first time but will definitely do next time around. I will not wait long to get back.

So I went tonight with some friends and we enjoyed it.

We had:

Royal Red Shrimp
Crafish Spring Onion Gratinee
Grilled Mussels w/ Fennel Aiole
Spicy Ground Shrimp w/ Noodles
Shrimp Toast
Grilled Onion Salad
Carrots
Tuna w/ something and mint
Louisiana Shrimp Roll

That plus 8 drinks cost $165 + tip

The group consensus was the top 4 were:

Red Shrimp
Crawfish Gratinee
Mussels
Shrimp Roll

Red Shrimp was consensus #1

Very attentive and friendly staff. Decor was nice. Lively place but you could still hear your friends.

I only wish I wasn't still hungry.

If you get the red shrimp, definitely eat them with the shells and legs still on. I don't ever eat them this way but our waiter suggested it. After I tried one peeled, I tried one w/ shell and it was MUCH better.

8 of the 9 items were small plates w/ the shrimp roll being the exception. We all shared everything. I just generally eat a decent amount and had just worked out so I was hungry. People w/ lesser appetites would probably be ok (not full but content) with what we ordered.

What? I don't understand. You just swallowed the shells and all? I'm not to sure about that. What about it made them better this way?
