Remember when littering wasn't a big deal?

...or did I just grow up in a white trash family?

Was having this discussion with a co-worker about being a kid and remembering just throwing everything out of the window and it not being looked down upon. I remember driving home and parents throwing coke bottles out of the window after finished and even McDonalds bags full of trash. When did this all of a sudden become such a big no-no?

If that shite wasn't a big deal to yall, then you definitely grew up in a white trash family.

I'm not an eco-nut by any means, but littering in that way shows a distinct lack of respect for everyone and everything around you. Your parents were awful human beings and raised you poorly.

I grew up in the Piney woods of East Texas and as a small kid I remember my dad hurling empties out the window on the interstate on the reg. This was before the "don't mess wiht Texas campaign " and all the fines

Is this thread a joke? Your parents would throw full bags of McDonalds trash out the car window and not think twice?

I see it all the time. A lot of people are setting game cameras and signs up to catch the people and attempt to prosecute them.

Trust me, I don't litter now at all, but was just laughing remembering growing up people I was always around did and it didn't seem like a big deal. Did they always have litter laws or write tickets for littering or did that all start after the 80s?

The laws were put into effect because of people like your parents.

Really?
Seems like it's always been a big deal.. It's a little rude, if you ask me. I was always taught that I had to be considerate of who would have to clean it up if I didn't.
