What time does the average wedding rehearsal start?
Posted by eric4UA08 on 4/26 at 8:30 am
I'm in a wedding this weekend, and the rehearsal starts at 4:30 today, and it's 3 1/2 hours away. Also note that the entire wedding party is from where I live, so we are all traveling that far. Obviously, I had to take off work. Is 4:30 normal for a rehearsal? I'm kind of pissed that I had to vacation time just to drive to a rehearsal.. But oh well. Seems a little ridiculous to have it that early when everyone in the wedding party is coming from so far.

I know, csb and all that. I'm just curious when they normally start.

Late enough to go have dinner afterwards. A rehearsal does not take long at all, and no one wants their free meal to be too early, otherwise they have to eat again that night.

A lot of churches have weddings on Friday night so the church has to have the rehearsal before the other wedding. This was the case for my rehearsal

It could be a scheduling conflict with the venue. I have to have our rehearsal at 3pm because there is a 5pm and a 7pm wedding on Friday night so we have to be out of there before those weddings get underway. Ideally we would have had a 5pm rehearsal since our rehearsal dinner is at 7, but no sense in fretting over things you can't control.

You sound like a great friend

Bride and groom should be very happy that you are a part of their special day

6ish is normal, but there may be a scheduling conflict at the venue.

Also, Lolz at people who work on Fridays.

All of the ones I've been in have started 6-7. 430 seems really early.

Just skip the rehearsal and show up for the free food and drinks afterwards.

We started our rehearsal at 5:30 for a 7:30 wedding, and it still felt a little pressed for time, so an extra hour seems reasonable.

The bride and groom are probably taking some photographs after the rehearsal but before the wedding while the sun is still out. that eats up a lot of time.

eta: misread the OP; thought the wedding was tonight too. Yeah it's probably a scheduling conflict with another wedding.
