Watch Dog of choice?

Doesn't have to hunt or anything other than protecting your shite and must be good with kids...

They have had a string of burglaries here in the last few weeks targeting guns, ammo and jewelry.

What's your choice?

We had a 35 pound red heeler that challenged everybody who approached the yard. He was not a biter but held his ground and barked until the person made his way around the perimeter of the yard. He saved us from many toilet paper rollers as well. RIP Milo.

These are my 2 totally useless, lovable guard dogs. I live in a college neighborhood near Gardere, and these guys, coupled with a security system and some firepower help my sleep soundly at night.

The big bug eyed white guy is an American Bulldog and the black bitch is a pound dog.

I know most of you will scoff, but my GF has a min pin (mini Doberman) and that little shite has acute hearing and x-ray vision. If someone walks on the sidewalk in front of the house she will wake up and run to the front door barking. She is tiny but she thinks she is a badass.

Those mutts are great for that. If all you're wanting is a watch dog, them sum betches bark like crazy when someone comes on their turf.

Not only that, they WILL bite but you won't have the troubles you may when Dobermans, Pit Bulls, etc. bite.

Cheap to keep too. In fact, get two.

Had an australian shephard that would not let anyone or anything in the yard. Had an American bulldog that looked and sounded big and bad, and was good with kids. In reality that bulldog was the biggest pansy ever, but no one got within 50 feet of him.

An entire litter of pit bulls.

Seriously get you one or two of these. People are scared to death to come to my house with them out running around.

Most any mix that is 50% poodle.

They'll certainly alert you if something is wrong, but what I've found especially interesting with the poodle mix is that they're smart enough to NOT bark at every stupid little thing that moves or scares them.

Far fewer false alarms.

My 2 1/2 yr old male lets me know if anything goes bump in the night and loves to play with my kids and the neighbors kids. If you own one of these dogs you had better not be lazy though. Be prepared to get 10 - 20 miles of road work in a week or just accept that you will have a 100 lb muscle bouncing off the walls for the next 5 - 8 years.
