Hell, boy - you should have showed your moxy and argued with management that Subaru is about to come out with a convertable wagon/sedan.

Would have given them something to talk about over the coffee pot the next morning: "Subaru? Frick that dude, that's a fricking lesbo mobile. Hire that other cat that brought his spitter into the interview."

I have taken that test many times and never gotten the job, even when I had the highest score of all candidates in knowledge tests and aptitude tests.

Did you call HR and ask if you were the highest? Hell, that's probably why you didn't get it.

Fwiw, I don't think they grade aptitude tests.

Think the Wonderlic is more problem solving, may be wrong though.

Birds of a feather.....

Some test are good at determining differences in candidates. Some use a baseline derived from the most successful people already at the company and they try to find new employees that most closely resemble the "winners"

Note: this type modeling is especially helpful in a sales function.

I took one years ago that said I would make an excellent funeral director, but only a "good" speech therapist.

I did not choose to be a funeral director.

I hate the places that require all of those assessments before they will even consider you. I think they should wait to ask you to do that crap when/if they decide they want to interview you. I applied to one the other day that took nearly 3 hours to complete with entering personal info, uploading resume, and 5 long assessments like that. I wouldn't mind doing it if they called me for an interview, but 3 hrs on a job application that I may or may not even get a call about is fricking ridiculous.

Any time I have to take one of those it shows I am not a good fit for a sales job. (I had two friends who own companies let me take it and showed me how I scored because anytime I have to take one I never get an offer)
All of my awards and sales record says otherwise so those tests.

Sounds like a personality test more than an aptitude test.

Maybe it was to assign your company car. Congrats on the station wagon.

One, there are many different assessments for a variety of purposes. The ones that are done upfront are normally a basic screening test that cost about $50-75 dollars to the company...it is alot cheaper to do that than to have a actual human being sit and interview only to find out you may not be a good fit. In other words...you been "processed"

If you put convertible, they would know you are going through a mid-life crisis

Do you drive faster than the speed limit a) never b) some of the time c) only when I am late

Not where I work. We have to take these tests every time we apply for a promotion/transfer, the first did I took one I would occasionally select the second to best answer so it would look like I was being honest. One of my managers told me that they can't even see your answer, rather it just composites a total score, so it's best just to select the obvious best answer every time.

There was one company I thought I had an interview for out of college as they found me and asked me to apply for a position with them in Houston. Called and setup interview on X day. I drove to houston paid for a hotel there showed up in suit.. Then they just handed me a fricking ap test going over BS like what the OP had.

Asked the moderator is there was an interview or just the test. Called the person that set it up and asked her. She said they just had the test for now and they would schedule a return later. I walked the frick out on them. Pissed me off wasting my time like that.
