Will be in town next weekend and staying in that area. Only spots that come to mind are Bridge Lounge or driving south about a mile and hitting Columns Hotel

ideas appreciated. thanks so much

Avenue Pub is nicer if you go upstairs

Definitely. Great balcony too. The riff raff stays downstairs for the most part, although I have no aversion to drinking downstairs

Just don't attempt to go upstairs before it's open or you'll be KJ-ed.

When was the last time the OP has gone to Bridge Lounge? It's become quite the uh, urban destination

You talking about Bridge Lounge or Bridge House?

And why don't you just admit that you don't like black people?

Good advice there Rouge. Don't even think about it.

I took a girl there for NYE and I thought the crowd was pretty mixed. I don't get what the big deal about black people going to your bar is.

It doesn't bother me at all (I still go there), i was just observing that the demographics have changed pretty drastically. I always thought of it as kind of a hipster place back in the day, at least on trivia nights. Some people are dissuaded by it, I will admit, which you can validly argue is unfortunate

If it's a good evening weather wise, Aline St. Beer Garden is a good spot to sit outside and drink liters of beer, if you're in to that kind of thing.

You can walk pretty much anywhere in the WHD in about 10 minutes from Delmonico. So (sort of) in order of closest to farthest from you:

Rusty Nail
American Sector (great happy hour)
Capdeville
Tommy's
District
Lucy's
Vic's
Ernst

all solid or better without crossing Poydras.

Yeah, a short ride over to Magazine or the WHD and you will have tons of places.

If you want to head down St. Charles near there they have the Delechaise for nice drinks/wine, etc.

There is also a few places in the block before Avenue Pub that look like they have some nice outdoor set ups.
The names are Mia's and The Pelican or some shite like that. I may be off on both names, but it's close.
