Do you trust anyone who could be Jindal's replacement?

By no means is he the perfect governor, but he has done a lot of the business climate and cutting (some) of the fat from our bloated state government. I wish he could accomplish more of that side of his agenda, honestly. However I have a fear that no matter who comes in as his replacement, we will not build on his successes just correcting some of his "missteps"/ the anti-Jindal crowd gets back what they lost.

I especially don't trust any democrats in Louisiana as long as Edwards is still alive..

Can anyone convince me otherwise?

I wouldn't mind having Dardenne, Boustany Jr., or Cassidy. The only democrat, at this point, that I could even remotely stomach as governor would be Mitch Landreu.

Like Mike Foster in his first term, Jindal in both of his terms really could have remade the state for the better. Foster just didn't care that much so he didn't do much other than tort reform and Jindal is so scared to have to fight for substantive reform and suffer a legislative "defeat" that might tarnish his national reputation. If it doesn't check a box for him nationally (ethics, vouchers, tax repeals) Jindal won't touch it. That wouldn't be a bad thing at all if his ethics reforms would have amounted to more than additional paperwork for unpaid board members or if his voucher program would have applied across the board to all students or if his income tax repeal proposal would be tied to power/taxing devolution to the parishes.

Who knows who comes behind him. Hopefully it is someone that combines his zeal for reform, but who actually has the nuts to fight the legislature to achieve real reform.

There's not very many that I trust.

It's for that reason I hope The GOP in LA is putting in some serious work right now in finding a replacement. Hell, I hope they started when it was obvious that Jindal was going to win reelection.

Probably the best three, but I doubt the last two are interested. Dardenne has ben salivating at being governor for a long time and he only ran for LT Gov in the event Jindal went to DC in a Romney Administration. I like him as a good guy, but he's been at the trough for a long time now...

I heard Vitter is planning on running, in which case I will vote for my pinky toe instead. About as intelligent and capable of decent decision making. Couldn't take Mitch either. I feel like we may be headed for another Dem governor because Bobby has pissed off so many people.

Not from what I've heard. But we are such a dyed in the wool red state, you may be right.

I feel this as well although I think he has done more good than bad AND the bad he has done was necessary. I figure the status quo will return when he leaves office and all the pigs will return to the trough.

Mitch is the Dems best shot.... But he will look to Mary's race's outcome and see if the waters are right for him to run for Gov

It would be very interesting to see a Republican legislature with a Democrat Governor.... We've never really seen the state Leg stand up to the Governor

I still personally don't see it happening in LA's current political environment

Has he pissed off anyone except state workers, teachers, and welfare recipients though?

I don't believe this will happen but I'm scared that this might happen.

We actually have a surplus under him.

Oh yes. The disabilities community for one. And those groups may seem insignificant but once you piss off enough small groups, suddenly you have a large group.

Whenever you endorse someone you use political capital... Mary has to save all of hers for her reelection... If she wins reelection she will endorse Mitch who will run if she wins reelection
