Voorhies is 6-2, about 190 and ran a 4.62

Sonny said it was a terrible surface. I do get confused on that at times though seeing as the Hilliard kid ran a 4.5. Either the Hilliard kid had one of the few clean runs or he's exceptionally fast and we should be all over him or Voorhies is legitimately not as fast as we all seem to think. Maybe Voorhies just had a bad run and Hilliard had a very clean one. We'll see later on I guess.

Didn't Hilliard run an electronic sub-4.4 at Nike?

For him to run a hand-timed 4.5, the surface must have been shaky.

The Bridgewater kid from Livonia was the 10th grade overall MVP.

I've heard an O-Lineman from St Aug was very impressive. He was controlling people, mauling them in blocking drills.
Also, Kirk Louis from McKinley did well. Benched 155, 24 times, did well in the agility drills. He ran a 4.9, which disappointed him, especially since he ran 4.6 at LSU's Camp last Summer.

Zachary has a artifical turf track. It is the same material as the field. It is a modern turf surface. The field is filled with rubber crumbs but I do not know if that is true of the track. Also dont know if 40's were run on field or track...

The artificial turf there is not filled with rubber crumbs. It is like the old articial turf in the Superdome; basically carpet. I know; I was there with my son and I walked on it afterwards. The 40s were run on the field and not the track.

That O-Lineman was a beast. His name is Peyton. I didn't catch his last name. I know he's a Junior at St. Aug. My son is an O-lineman as well; so I watched all the lineman drills and this kid dominated. Kept going at it even after he bloodied his nose.

It is filled with rubber crumbs, but they are packed too much. They need to get the field worked on. These turfs aren't install-it-and-forget-it. If the pellets get overpacked, they don't provide traction and the field becomes slippery. You run some kind of machine on it that loosens the pellets, then you add more pellets and you get traction back.

I don't think the turf is bad, so much as it's overdue for maintenance.

I live in the subdivision next to the stadium. I watched them install it about 5 yrs ago. Trust me it has the rubber in it. My kids went to ZHS and I have spent many a night in that stadium.

What you said make a lot of sense. It has been quite common to see players in games slip making cuts on pass routes and trying to cut upfield on sweeps on seemingly dry turf.

I gotcha. I don't disagree with you; maybe the pellets are packed now. And yes, it is a slippery field and a lot of kids were slipping in their individual workouts by position and during the shuttle runs.
