Summary: Warming up with your friends could be a danger to the team if it goes any further.

Most people gravitate to who/what is familiar to them. I know when I kick the ball around before a practice, it would be with the people I know the most. So for there to be a German league players, Mexican league players, Rest of Europe cliques is really not surprising to me.

It's kind of a jump to conclusions in the article. I see what he's trying to say but it's a stretch.

Yeah, Terrence Boyd is German-American, but warms up with the young players? Obvious sign of team fractured team chemistry!

MLS and European based players warming up in different groups? Clearly harkens back Harkes banging Wynalda's wife!

I certainly agree with y'all that what the author is implying is a bit of a stretch, but I thought I remember reading somewhere a while back that the Germericans didn't mesh well with everyone else at first.. And am I the only one that finds it a little strange that they speak German to each other in the presence of non-German speaking teammates? Seems as it could be a little divisive..

Probably not the only one but it doesn't surprise me. Timmy Chandler barely speaks any English and the other German based-players speak it way more than they do English.

With regards to the author and team chemistry. There are much bigger chemistry issues on Spain and they still found a way to win a World Cup.

Was about to post something similar.

It's not really that big of a deal, and it's better than the alternative, i.e. players who can't speak or are uncomfortable speaking English being forced to speak English.

From what I have seen in interviews, Boyd, Fabien, Jermaine Jones, and Danny Williams speak English very well. Not native speakers, but pretty comfortable with the language. I think Chandler's English is a lot worse though.

I was always under the impression that the guys all got along really well. I seem to remember some of the germericans and other dual nationals saying how comfortable they felt in training and around the grounds. I think the fact that most of them have unique upbringing kind of brings them all together, I've never sensed that anyone on the team has a divisive personality by any means. I can see the logic, but there are plenty of other more pressing issues to critique regarding the usmnt.

100% agree Tweezy, I don't think there's any chemistry problems on the national team, quite the opposite actually, they appear to be a tight knit group
