This whole idea of letting kids "figure out who they are" is pure liberal, granola munching, hippie bull shite. It is the father's responsibility to teach his son how to be a man and what it means to be a man. Same thing for mothers with their daughters. The fact that so many so-called parents stopped doing this is one of the big reasons the world is so fricked up today.

Sorry dude, you're a boy. Just because you want to act/dress like a girl, you still have a pecker. Go to the boys bathroom.

what do you feel about gays coming into the male bathroom checking your junk out?

I feel great for the women in the women's restroom that don't have to deal with the uncomfortable situation he'd put them in if he was in there.

Also, gays abide by the "look up at the wall" rule as well as any straight guy. They're also adults, not a 1st grade boy who is confused about his body.

here is an unrelated interview with the mother (i think)

I think I might understand part of what is pushing this child to act this way. He is the only child in that family who is not disabled. Two autistic kids, one brain damaged, and the youngest wasn't born yet at the time of the article. The kid is going to extremes to get some attention, and I suppose that the parents are encouraging it. He sees his siblings getting special treatment, and he thinks that he needs that to be normal. To be truly brought into the family. Just a thought.

i took that away from the article too, i just couldn't verbalize the other childrens problems without it sounding mean in my head.

Yep. Sounds like the family circumstances are causing the kid to act out for attention. Also, may be that the parenting skills learned for dealing with the autistic children have made the parents potentially too un-structured with the non-autistic child. Lots of stuff going on with that family. My TD psychology degree seems insufficient to handle this matter.

On the contrary, I think you're both spot on.

If it was the other way around, simple, just have urinals.

I think lesbians should have to use the men's room but only if they're hot.

Solid. Now we're thinking. Lets get more of this positive vibe flowing in this thread.

I am a mom of 4 amazing, wonderful, awesome children (and one on the way!). Dakota is 5 1/2 years old and has Autism. Coy, Max, and Lily are 3 1/2 year old triplets. Coy is our special little neuro-typical child. Max is also on the Autism spectrum. Lily had a very bad brain injury as a 4 month old and is about like having a 1-2 month old baby, but is so much fun (and feisty!). I work full time at home as Lily’s nurse as well as being a professional photographer outside the home. My husband, Jeremy, is a full time student at two colleges and should be done with school in Spring 2012.

This is the type of shite that makes me think a lot of these "autism" diagnoses are parents just screaming for attention.

I do NOT know this for sure so could be wrong, but I think 12 credit hours a semester is considered full time. It would be hard as hell, but 24 credit hours in one semester is possible. I don't know why not do it all at 1 school, or how the frick they are earning income, but I digress..

What's worse is this sorry good-for-nothing piece of shite has a wife and FOUR kids that he should be supporting. Guess who's footing that bill though.

This is a new term to me. So the one kid without a brain defect (minus the cross dressing) gets the label. This is all on the parents if they don't buy dresses, dress him in dresses, and treat him like a girl this doesn't happen. 1st graders can't even make a proper decision on what they want for dinner much less out of the blue decides he wants to be a chick.

Also I didn't mention it earlier because I saw your post on like page 4, but you made a good point about "distractions" at school. When I was growing up, we couldn't wear any sort of baseball hat or cap, couldnt' die your hair weird colors, couldn't wear crazy arse shirts with offensive slogans, etc...basically anything that "distracted" from the learning environment was prohibited.

Yet they're gonna let this little boy die his hair purple, wear a dress, and use the girl's room? This whole situation just stinks to high heaven. They're putting the feelings of 1 above the feelings of hundreds and that just sucks.
