NHL seats question
Posted by Sandkhan on 2/26 at 8:32 pm
Hey, i'm about to buy tickets to see the Avalanche play the Canucks in March. This is my first NHL game ever. I've been a fan for years(Maple Leafs), but I live in the southeast and haven't gotten to watch much hockey outside of the Birmingham Bulls. For those of you who have been to games, i'm looking at some at rinkside in the 104 section(which is in the corner-middle, by the goalie faceoff circle but right on the ice, row 5) or in the middle but up one section. I could also get right behind the net, but I think i'd rather see the whole rink, especially with the Sedins out there.

Those who have been to games, what do you think? I'll be buying in the next hour or so.

Personally, I've sat in a box, Club seating, and just normal seats in the middle. Obviously the box was the best, but I also loved the Club seating. Getting the better seats is surprisingly cheap at Hockey games.

I like sitting a little higher than Row 5 and a little closer to the neutral zone but if you like being close to the action and seeing all the ice then you'll like those seats. Do not sit behind the goal. That'd be the worst decision you can make.

My mom got her company's club level seats at mid ice for a Jackets game a few weeks ago. They were by far the best seats I've had there and I've been to probably 30ish games in my life. I definitely would shell out some extra money to sit at mid ice at the top of the lower bowl again.

So there are some for "Prime Loge Center" Row 12. "Rinkside Center"(but really at the goal) row 5, and "Club Section"(also at the goal) for all about the same price. Sounds like most of you are saying Club Section or Prime Loge. Is this right? Is the Club Section like a box or anything?

Club section doesn't necessarily mean a box. Usually there are anywhere from 3-10 rows in front of the box that still classify as club level. The more you can get towards the middle of the ice, the better in my opinion.

I've been to my fair share of Stars games and I would advise you to take the seats in the middle up a section. Sitting in row 5 in the corner is going to give you a very limited view of the action at the other end.

It's not so much in the corner as it is right at the faceoff circle inside the blue line. But i'm about to get these center ice ones because that seems to be the consensus. Thanks guys! Can't wait to see the game

I've been to 2 NHL games. I sat near center ice and from behind one of the nets. I know I'll be in the minority, but I enjoyed the seats behind the net more than I enjoyed the center ice seats. I felt like I could see the puck movement better.

Gotta agree...I'm always looking for rows 10-16, close to center as possible.

+1 ... My friend has Coyotes season tickets 5 rows up behind the goalie. It's an absolute blast seeing the action come at you, especially those shots that go wide off the glass in front of you. It's tough seeing he other end of the ice but it's a non stop up and down sport as it is. And again, agree that you can see the puck movement better behind the net.

I've heard sitting on the ice on the sideline portion of the rink makes it impossible to see the other end of the ice, with the angle of the boards plus the benches/penalty boxes.

you can't replace the feeling of the players being checked into the boards right in front of you, especially at NHL speed, while you're banging on the glass, or when two guys drop the gloves and the whole arena stands...

I know they are pricey and popular but I don't like rink side seats

I would like to sit on the glass once, but I really liked my seats about 15-20 rows up.

I would sit closer to the home teams attack twice zone. You will see more action. So, row 5 closer to the goal would be better in my opinion. Most teams charge more for the attack twice zone. It is a more desirable location.

MSB has gotten me kind of wanting to go see a hockey game now, and I don't even like hockey

Yes, but i'm a leafs fan. I'm neutral on both these teams and just want to see a good game....so actually seeing the visiting teams goal would be better with me because of the Sedins
