re: Song topics that are completely misunderstood.quote: Good call, but wrong explanation. That song is definitely about anal sex. "Down in the hollow, playing a new game." Reply Back to Top |
| Some other good ones: Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (written from the POV of male appliance store workers who are watching a Michael Jackson video on a TV in the store) Elton John - Rocketman (about a drug addict) Beatles - Blackbird (about the civil rights in the 60s) Dave Matthews Band - Crash (about a creepy stalker) Reply Back to Top |

| Live - Lightning Crashes There are three females mentioned in this song. A New Mother, an Old Mother, and a Newborn Baby. It's kind of hard to tell by listening to the song, but the only death that occurs is by the Old Mother. This song is about the cycle of life that uses the metaphor of 'Lightning Crashes' to signify the end of one life and the beginning of another. It was inspired by a friend of the band who was in a fatal car accident whose family donated her organs to save the lives of others. Reply Back to Top |
| Hinder - Lips of an Angel I always found it funny how women sing along to this song when it's really about the guy basically cheating on his current girl with his former girl. "sometimes i wish she was you" Reply Back to Top |
quote:I always thought this was about an exodus to Santa Monica. Pretty sure no one knew back in the day the Sex Type Thing by STP was a Date Rape song. This post was edited on 2/25 at 8:50 am Reply Back to Top |
| Mr Jones by Counting Crows is NOT about his schlong. He is on record saying it was some guy who was his friend and how they tried to hit on chicks at the bar. Exactly as it sounds. Reply Back to Top |

| Not sure if brought up yet. Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman" is easily misunderstood if you don't really listen to the lyrics. It sounds like a nice piano ballad. It's actually kind of dark: She can kill with a smile She can wound with her eyes She can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child But she's always a woman to me She can lead you to love She can take you or leave you She can ask for the truth But she'll never believe And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free Yeah, she steals like a thief But she's always a woman to me [Chorus:] Oh, she takes care of herself She can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, and she never gives out And she never gives in She just changes her mind She will promise you more Than the Garden of Eden Then she'll carelessly cut you And laugh while you're bleedin' But she'll bring out the best And the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself Cause she's always a woman to me [Chorus:] Oh, she takes care of herself She can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, and she never gives out And she never gives in She just changes her mind She is frequently kind And she's suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases She's nobody's fool But she can't be convicted She's earned her degree And the most she will do Is throw shadows at you But she's always a woman to me Reply Back to Top |
quote: So weird. I saw the heading to the thread and that song popped into my head instantly. Probably the only one I could name. Not a big lyrics guy. Reply Back to Top |

| Hey Mr. Tambourine man is about finding drugs. The Tambourine man is code word for drug dealer. Play a song for me... get me some drugs. I've always speculated that Motley Crues Dr Feelgood is about a drug dealer as well... he's the when you can when you feel good, he's the one that makes you feel alright. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I thought that was pretty understood. Jimmy is a dealer out in Hollywood, and he's called Dr. Feelgood. They don't exactly hide the meaning. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
