| Anyone here raise rabbits for meat? Posted by BuckeyeFan87 If so, is It pretty cost effective and what breeds do you raise? I've got my dogs on a raw meat diet and would like to ideally raise some of their food. Anyone familiar with the Champagne D'Argent? There's a local selling them and from what I've read online, they're a top choice nationally as a meat rabbit. :F&Dboard?: :TIA: Reply Back to Top |
| There is virtually no financial benefit to raising your own meat, especially something as involved as rabbits. The only reason to raise any animal is if it is for personal consumption and you simply want to know the nature by which it ended up on your plate. For dogs, I'd buy grocery store chicken on sale. | Most grocery store chicken is marinated in a high salt/water solution which isn't appropriate for dogs. Plus, I like the idea of knowing exactly what goes into the diet of my pets meals. Reply Back to Top |
| I did for years when I was a teenager. Had three does. That was plenty for a family of four to eat. No clue on cost. That was 20 years ago. But it wasn't very expensive. Once you get your cages built. A sack of feed would last a while. And no clue on what breeds. I was given a buck anda doe to start. Found some for free later to add to the herd Reply Back to Top Refresh |
