quote: yes, but they knew roughly where those would be coming from and had things in place to shoot them down...it's pretty much impossible to know what trajectory a meteor is going to be raining down at... edited to add meteors enter the top of the atmosphere at roughly...30,000mph (obviously they slow down quickly upon entry though) This isn't Hollywood...you can't shoot down a meteor within seconds of it entering the atmosphere.
