So this is basically going to be Dixie Landing Part II.

Well the plans look quite a bit larger than Dixie Landing does, but the plans do have a state fair look to them.

This reminds me of a $500 million dollar theme park that was supposed to be built in the random town of New Caney Texas, near Houston a few years ago...

"the East Montgomery County Improvement District has been funneling millions of dollars to various development entities connected to the proposed EarthQuest Resort in New Caney, a hefty chunk of which appears to have been spent on lavish travel junkets for the developers, EMCID officials, and their families — to view theme parks in Las Vegas, Florida, Canada, the Bahamas, Japan, China, and Vietnam? And: How come EMCID officials now claim not to know the current status of the now apparently bankrupt EarthQuest Institute, which for several years listed the EMCID’s address as its own on tax forms, and when the 2 organizations have the same board chairman? And: Who’s even gonna build this thing now that the landowner has declared bankruptcy and the developer won’t show up to community meetings?"

Why wouldn't they try to bring back Pontchartrain Beach before they did this in some place like Houma?

I am in Houma and I will be very surprised if someone gives the money to do this.

For what it's worth, Waterland USA is totally defunct and dis-assembled. There is nothing but gravel on the site that was Waterland, USA.

That was one turd of a facility.

On a better note, there will be a new multi-sports facility on par with what other small cities have as well as a skate park coming to the h town in 2013.

A new theme park? Not so much.
