Hostess Union still doesn't get it (Video in link)

LINK

quote:

Following a brief infomercial for Gordian Group's apparent skills in bringing dough-makers and yeast-cooking perfection to the table - arguing that they are here to preserve jobs (for skilled workers who have been apparently working for below-market wages) - and maximizing value for the Bakery Union; Peter Kaufman stops the pretense of helping and goes straight for the threat. "We are here to work with credible bidders to get started right away with a great work-force; on the other hand, if bidders don't want to work with us (and re-hire Hostess employees), the union will ask the AFL-CIO to put any Hostess product on its 'boycott product' list." But "we're here to help," he reminds the somewhat stunned CNBC anchor. It seems beggars are once again choosers... as the entitled roll on.

Of course, far be it from us to point out the incredible irony that it was the labor union's unwillingness to negotiate that forced the company to run out of cash; and now that same union, that effectively blew up their employer, demands to have jobs restored as if nothing happened, and likely with the same (apparently higher comp) demands entitlements as before.

Bc then they'd have to staff it with union workers and they know how bad that is for business.

In almost every store, I see the Hostess display with other brand cakes in them. They were so lazy they didn't even pick up their display racks.

Why did Hostess run out of money? Because their Union workers took an approximate 10% haircut, and then the corporate staff gave themselves huge raises, and then went back and asked for another paycut out of the union.

99% of you people think Union and sprint-Usain Bolt-like-on your way to judge those in it. The bastards at Hostess in the Corporate Office bled the place dry and ran the company out of cash.

The Union wasn't ever the problem and voted to cut their own pay.

This is first hand info from a Non-Union employee being relayed by a Republican Jindal Voter.

You're a fricking moron... I guess the fact that there were over 70 pension plans thanks to the unions had nothing to do with it?

Nice. All I'm doing is trying to bring you factual responses. The Union workers did their part, and had the favor returned with 36 corporate execs hiking their own pay.

No link. Sorry. Had the convo with the man-whom I'd never met-the day he was laid off.

Again, Non-liberal two-time Jindal voter trying to inject facts. Feel free to show off those English Grammar lessons you learned from reading the words scrawled on the wall of your local truck stop urinal. That totally makes you right.

Nothing personal, but who cares about your voting record? Does that somehow counter the destructive and parasitic nature of unions?

I'm not defending the nature of unions or trying to talk in broad generalizations nor paint with brushes the size of Eurasia.

I'm saying the Union took a haircut in good faith and the Execs inflated their pay to eat up money, and then got approached to take yet another haircut.

36 Corporate positions got huge raises as rank and file employees took 10% across the board paycuts.

This is fact per a Non-Union employee of Hostess. This is what I am saying. Nothing else.

This isn't a referendum on the glorious-or abhorrent-nature of labor unions. It's me providing information in a thread where a dearth of accurate information exists.

Is there a problem with me doing so?

Dude the pension plan were killing the firm. It's not as simple as current compensation. And don't come in here saying you're the facts guy when you're only telling half the story - half story =half truth.
