| "Momentum" and the Blackout Posted by H-Town Tiger So a popular meme since last night was that the blackout took momentum from the Ravens and gave the 49ers new life. I'm curious, if that's true, as the always brilliant and insightful Stephen A Smith cvlaims, and not an just a coincidence, why did the 49ers come back after being down 20-0 vs Atlanta with out a black out? | "Correlation not equaling causation" applies to your argument as well. The fact that SF made a comeback against Atlanta doesn't disprove the argument that a delay, a variable not included in the Atlanta sample, was the reason for SF's comeback against Baltimore. | SF looked shellshocked up until that point but after the break, they regrouped and started making some plays to get momentum on their side, while Baltimore clearly just wasn't playing with the same intensity. Not that hard to figure out. Reply • Back to Top |

| A delay in itself can slow the momentum of a team, but it doesn't automatically give it to the other team. What got the 49ers back into the game was forcing a punt when Ray Rice was tackled a yard short of the 1st down. And it's impossible to definitively attribute that stop to the power outage since it was the 49ers first defensive series of the half. Reply • Back to Top |
