| Just a little trade review request... Posted by Bacciagaloop Did I frick up, or pull off a great trade.  on 2/4 at 7:46 am12 team, Dynasty league 15 keepers... 25 player MLB roster with all the regular positions plus Corner and Middle infield positions and 4 outfield spots. I traded away Robinson Cano, Doug Fister, Pablo Sandoval and Dellin Betances P (minor) I received Bryce Harper, Michael Young, Gary Sanchez C and Mason Williams OF (top 2 Yankee prospects) and his 11th round pick (which is the second to last round, but it is the 2nd pick of the round) I had depth at all the positions I traded away, now starting Danny Espinosa at 2B instead of MI, and David Freese at 3B instead of CI. Still have Cliff Lee, Darvish, and Sale, and we have yet to start our Major League Draft, so I can get my depth back. Mason Williams OF NYY Gary Sanchez C NYY Alex Meyer RHP MIN Mike Montgomery LHP TB Adeiny Hechavarria SS MIA Eduardo Sanchez RP STL Charlie Blackmon OF COL Ryan Lavarnway C BOS Danny Hultzen SP SEA George Springer OF HOU Noah Syndergaard P NYM Matt Adams 1B STL Juan Francisco 3B ATL Nathan Eovaldi SP MIA I was really weak, as you can see, in the OF, and I am really happy to have Harper, and 20 year old who may be the best player in baseball in a couple years, versus having my favorite player, Cano, who is 30 and will start to go downhill before Harper ever hits his prime. | Could have sold Cano separately and Fister/Sandoval in another deal... and come out better than your return. You must have a massive man crush on Harper. Bad trade. Reply • Back to Top |
| Meh. Sandoval and Fister likely would not command anything of value. It's essentially Harper for Cano. If you like Harper more then I don't have a problem with the trade Reply • Back to Top |
| In a 15 player keeper, it should have given back decent value in return. In a shallow one, I would concur. It may pay off in the long run, but short term... I don't like it. You don't think you would have gotten more in return? Reply • Back to Top |
| I needed an OF, noone is going to trade a harper or trout or braun for Cano straight up... the guy needed sp and 3b, and I wanted to bolster my farm team... gyno, you keep 13 minors guys out of 15, what you see is post trade, and after my first round pick of alex meyer. I took this team over this year and there were only 12 farm team players out of the 15 possible, so I was short one... trading for sanchez and williams got me back even after my next round pick Reply • Back to Top |
| You're right on that. So I understand that it was going to cost you a lot to get Harper... but value wise for me, I couldn't have swung that trade. For Trout on the other hand, yes... but that's because I value that much higher. I'm not as sold on Bryce being a perennial top 12 performer... at least yet.
