I think most would agree that immigration is a right. But we have a seres of laws as to how immigration should take place and those laws should be followed and enforced. To protect both the country and the immigrants.

I doubt that. How is it a right?

About 6 billion people don't have the right to immigrate to the US.

Immigration is a privilege.

YOUR property? What gives you the right to say that?

Do you OWN that property in FULL ownership? Because if you are paying rent or paying a mortgage, you do NOT own that property. You do not OWN that residence.

Now, you may say, "According to the terms of the Mortgage, I have a right of exclusive occupancy of the residence." To that argument, I say, "The terms of your Mortgage agreement were written years ago and are out-dated. We will now ignore the Original Intent of your Mortgage Agreement, and have a court of law RE-INTERPRET those terms in accordance with new requirement that you house an immigrant family in that bank-owned residence."

Go with the flow, man, go with the Left's New Interpretations and say that every human being in the world has a Human Right to come live in the USA and apply for the Human Rights to food, shelter and medical care.

Why fight it? It should be quite clear by now that the only way people will learn the lesson is by learning it the hard way.

To put it better: I think anyone has the right to immigrate to the US provided they go through the proper legal avenues to do so.

Weather this is a "right" or a "privilege" is just semantics.

Do we have the "right" to vote or is it a "privilege"

This is not the view of those who would tell you that the Fundamental Human Right to Freedom of Travel cannot be restricted by laws and statutes that operate to deny that Fundamental Human Right.

We have had laws on the books for centuries with the intent to have organized, reasonable and constructive LEGAL immigration. These laws are being ignored by the Executive Branch of FedGov, and by many states. As a result, we have relatively open borders, and we will always have this.

Once a culture/nation-state/electorate accepts this notion of universal fundamental human right to freedom of travel, you will have a situation where your "country" will have open borders and a loss of some sovereignty.

They will self deport then. It has happened before. But the democrats want their votes and the republicans want the cheap labor!

doesn't sound very charitable Fat. Lets just say screw the people from latin america and force our situation for them just as bad as the situation itis in our country. Forget that these people work for dollars a day in some latin america countries. Lets not let them come to this country to have a better life.

do some reading up on what the Church says about immigration

check out any of the world day of migrants and refugees message or check on the immigration section in the compendium.

or even the usscb's document on immigration.

for fat bastard

quote:

We reject the anti-immigrant stance that has become popular in different parts of our country, and the nativism, ethnocentricity, and racism that continue to reassert themselves in our communities. We are challenged to get beyond ethnic communities living side by side within our own parishes without any connection with each other. We are challenged to become an evangelizing Church open to interreligious dialogue and willing to proclaim the Gospel to those who wish to hear it. The new immigrants call most of us back to our ancestral heritage as descendants of immigrants and to our baptismal heritage as members of the body of Christ."For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we are all given to drink of one Spirit"

The government has no right or responsibility to take US tax dollars and extend "charity" to criminals that are here illegally.

It is cheaper and more rational to extend charity to the illegal population in their own countries. For example a family of 4 Somali's can be cared for for about $77.12 a month in Somalia, to bring them to the US they cost over 47,000 per year, and for years there after.

If you really beleived in Charity you would be for it doing the most good for the most people. Efficient charity for the most deserving should be the goal not social destruction.

charitable? So them sucking my tax dollars dry is not charitable? really?

again we are talking about ILLEGAL not LEGAL. I think you are not grasping that.

LEGAL immigration is a PRIVILEGE. Should ILLEGAL be a privilege?

If you have an issue with people not wanting ILLEGAL immigrants, many countries do not even want LEGAL immigrants. there are limitations. Should we not have any limitations?

if you think all these " legal or illegal immigrants" are all just hard working hispanics..well....I really do not know what else to tell you. stealth jihad has been going on all over the world.

So you could care less about our laws on the books?????

Why do people think anyone and everyone who wants to immigrate to the us should be able to. It's not the case in the rest of the world. I would only let people immigrate in that bring something to the table.

"[But] take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise you will have no heavenly recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you."

not bragging CT just laying out an example of what i did in reference to what you were stating and how these charity programs exist all over. nothing more. But clearly I am the bad guy for caring about our laws and ILLEGAL law breakers draining our tax money. how dare me!

oh and plenty people do righteous deeds that are seen by many unintentionally nor are those people trying to stand out and brag about it. big difference. nice try though!

Yes, but it is also the right of a nation to control its borders.

I would also like you to explain from where this right derives. Aren't you an atheist?
