re: Trooper Taylor remains unemployedquote: Never. It was always rumor and innuendo. Reply Back to Top |
quote: So because a poster on here named himself TTsTowel we pumped him up? Hmmm.... He was heralded as a good recruiter, hard to argue against that point. Reply Back to Top |
quote: He also cares so much about them that he gives them free shite and arranges money transfers for them. I have a buddy that was a grad assistant at Tulane when Trooper was there and said he would go meet with kids in the Nola area with wads of money in his hands buying them all sorts of shite. This guy who told me this is a Tulane Greenie. He hates LSU so it is not biased against Auburn. ETA: And I don't know anyone that said he's a bad person. Every school dirty recruits, Trooper is just known for it. This post was edited on 1/24 at 1:06 pm Reply Back to Top |

quote:I'm not sure he was such a polarizing figure within the SEC fans when he coached at Tennessee. If he was, I can't remember it. He is an oddity on the sideline, he appears unprofessional to some people with the towel waving/backwards hat/chumming it up with the players, etc. But I think that's just his personality, IDK. I remember hearing some questionable recruiting rumors back in his Tulane days. So those probably carried over throughout his career. The Cecil Newton stuff hit the fan, the NCAA investigation, the BigCat, the Memphis kid with the grade issues, etc. AU didn't even get sniffed by the NCAA the whole time Tubs was there. Then all of the sudden there were multiple NCAA issues that were pretty high profile (Newton) and folks started to look at the main recruiters. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I remember him on the Auburn sidelines twirling that towel around and around. I got an idea of where he could find employment: Job Opportunities Reply Back to Top |
quote:Like I said in my previous post - Trooper's shady recruiting tactics goes way back to the Tulane days. Reply Back to Top |
quote: That's awesome. The best dirt anyone has on him happened a decade ago. Dude's obviously dirty as hell. So much proof. Reply Back to Top |
| Whether he is shady or not, I don't know. I don't know he is a very approachable and likeable person. I went to a game at Gadsden High School when AHS came to town and he was there along with Luper. Trooper spent the entire game taking pictures with fans and letting kids try on his NC ring. The security guards/cops kept telling people to leave them alone but Trooper welcomed it. I know that doesn't prove he is a clean recruiter but it does put many reasons why so many recruits might be drawn to him. You can talk to him like he is your best bud...which may ultimately be his biggest downfall as well. Reply Back to Top |
| I figured someone would have hired him by now, dude can recruit. Reply Back to Top |
quote: So no one really has anything to prove Trooper is a dirty recruiter. He just "looks like he would be dirty." Anyone think those 100,000 letters from bammer fans to the NCAA accusing AU of wrongdoing had anything to do with AU being having "multiple NCAA issues." And it turns out he was never found to have done anything wrong at AU. Nada. No sanctions. No probation. Just rumors and people thinking he "looked dirty." Unreal. Reply Back to Top |
| Thought he had problems at UT as well. Reply Back to Top |
quote: He was investigated for dealing with a street agent in Miami while at UT but he was cleared. Reply Back to Top |
quote: quote:I said he appeared unprofessional on the sidelines, not that he looked dirty. He has always looked cleancut and hip to me. His recruiting tactics over his career have been shady at best. Tulane had issues, Tennessee had issues (street agent shite in the Miami area), and issues at Auburn could be connected to him as well. His recruiting process, connections, and possible actions is known to raise an eyebrow or two. Obviously the NCAA has no issues with it since he's been cleared many times. He's kinda like a polyp found in a colonoscopy - it may not be cancerous - but it's something you have to keep you eye on in the future. Reply Back to Top |
quote: quote:^^ He gets "investigated" a lot - some employers have no problem with it - obviously Gus does and chose to boot him. Reply Back to Top |
| He was removed from off campus recruiting on 2 separate occasions.. that is a major slap on the hand outside of a show cause from the ncaa in my opinion Reply Back to Top |
| Ask the vol fans in the know if they want him around. Reply Back to Top |
