for all you heady bros:

I don't use drugs. Not even prescription drugs presently.

It's impossible for me to pretend to be a small govt guy and care about personal freedom if I support the war and prohibition on drugs for those who choose to do that to themselves. You don't have to be a participant in something to support people's right to do it.

It's cool.

I am not gay, and don't care if gay folks get married. Figured out a few years ago I had to be consistent with my ideology.

I know many folks are terrified the end of the WoD's domestically will be a failure and crazed drug fiends will be robbing people blind, but I think the exact opposite will happen and we will have a much safer society. Druggies can get drugs legal or not legal, we just make the whole process extremely dangerous..

I understand the darwinian approach or the libertarian but its a tough call either way. Any thing is worth a try at this point in time.
What we are doing now is a failure IMO.

I'm not even approaching it from a Darwinian stand point. You just have to ask yourself "Why are they illegal?" If it's because the drugs pose a risk to the consumer, that's not really a good reason for it to be outlawed. Like HempHead said, you either own your body or you don't.

If it's because the consumer might do harm to others, then it's still not a good reason for it to be illegal, because the harm they MIGHT do is already punishable under law.

Drugs laws are really unnecessary and expensive.

I'm always amused by the mental gymnastics people go through to explain why drugs should be illegal and why alcohol being legal is perfectly fine.

It's become cultural. When you actually sit there and break it down, the argument for drug laws falls apart. People want to be protected, but in actuality drug laws pose more of a danger to the public than the substances they're prohibiting.

Interesting that people think loser drug dealers are going to suddenly become model citizens.

If we don't subsidize criminal behavior with they "first uh da moooonth" check, the drop in street price will make the occupation less appealing.

There's a reason it's called dope. Takes one to use it.

I think this is really relevant considering most of the threads on this board has to do with gun control and gun violence. Wouldn't a hands off approach to drugs drive down prices and reduce the violence?

I think the success of prohibition should be the basis for a war on drugs.

Hell, looking at the success of our war on terror we might as well prep for a century of warfare.

I kid. I kid.
