| re: Who still supports the war on drugs, and if so, why? Posted by McLemore on 1/12 at 10:38 pm to goatmilker meth has its own separate safety issues--that's a tougher one to call. empty the jails and prisons of all weed-only offenders and let's go from there. Reply Back to Top |
| Legalize it and I don't use drugs anymore. Reply Back to Top |
quote: In theory, yes. In practice it doesn't seem like it's worth it. Some assume that if those drugs were decriminalize/legalize that usage would skyrocket. For me though, the reason I never wanted to do them had nothing to do with it's legality, but rather I was afraid of being hooked on them. Reply Back to Top |

| I understand the darwinian approach or the libertarian but its a tough call either way. Any thing is worth a try at this point in time. What we are doing now is a failure IMO. Reply Back to Top |
| Yes and we would stop using the justice system to deal with addicts but all the low to high level scumbag dealers will just start breaking different laws so the prison population will only drop slightly Reply Back to Top |

quote: Name one benefit from bungee jumping or extreme skiing? People should be free to do what they want to do. Laws against usage cause more problems than the actual usage itself. If people want to us, they will use...legal or illegal. Reply Back to Top |
quote: And . Been to some parties where I was a it surprised at who was openly using. Reply Back to Top |
| The general public is not at risk from extreme skiing or bungee jumping because it doesn't impair judgement or alter your mental state for an extended period of time, cause relapses etc. so that is a bad comparison. My point isn't that things need to have benefits to be legal. I should have said the negative side effects (to yourself and surrounding public) that those hard core drugs have (notice I left out weed) outweigh its recreational benefits. Reply Back to Top |
Nevermind, misread the post. quote: How can this be demonstrated? Here's a question for you: do you own your body, or does someone (or something) else? This post was edited on 1/12 at 11:44 pm Reply Back to Top |
Posted by McLemore on 1/12 at 11:43 pm to olemissfan26 i don't know who is arguing (seriously) that the negatives of hard drug use don't outweigh any benefits. you're totally missing the point.Reply Back to Top |
quote: Why not defecate in public then? Reply Back to Top |
| To be honest man I don't care if you do every drug you can get your hands on as long as you don't do it near me or in public... It's your body if you want to destroy it with that shite go ahead I just don't want to pay for your healthcare when you start having problems. Reply Back to Top |
| I don't want to pay for anyone else's problems, period. I asked that question because I believe it to be the fundamental aspect of drug legalization (as well as a myriad of other political problems). Either you own your body, or you don't. ETA: My drugs of choice are highly unlikely to cause any chronic health problems. This post was edited on 1/12 at 11:53 pm Reply Back to Top |
