I don't understand why people who don't spend any time thinking about personal defense think they should be able to dictate on this stuff.
You don't understand why I keep a semi-auto rifle for personal defense b/c you LITERALLY don't understand it.

Let's do the same with any vehicle capable of exceeding the speed limit in a school zone.

I think a good compromise would be to have those who want those type of weapons go through a process similar to obtaining a concealed weapons permit with the training courses, background checks, time delays.

I don't see how that solves anything. Unfortunately, Nancy Lanza would have passed that process and still stockpiled her cache... Adam had easy access to his mother's weapons.

My OP proposition would do precisely that.

No, it wouldn't. Why? Because every citizen in 1775 had a gun in their own house. There were no "militia centers" where everyone's gun was kept as part of a collective.

No. My gun. My house.

Then again, I only have a couple of pistols and a shot gun.

There are probabit more illegal guns in my town (Memphis) than in most. My concerns are riots or other social breakdowns....not the existance of a militia.

If my government or an invading force gets too oppressive I'll burn my house down and migrate to Mexico.

My favorite part, when liberals have to either be honest and demonstrate their ignorance, or their real agendas.

Yeah - they are proudly ignorant of most things they pontificate upon.

You're a single variable thinker.

You want to solve one problem so much, you completely ignore all other issues created by said solution.

We could set the speed limit on highways to 25mph while also requiring cars to be as durable as tanks and that would VERY MUCH reduce highway deaths. BUT, there is a reason we don't do that.

The automatic weapon argument cracks me up. As soon as I hear it, I tune them out bc they've lost all credibility.

Under current conditions, nothing. But just as in countries where personal possession is illegal access and usage are diminished as prices rise.

That already exists (minus the training) for automatic weapons and explosives You want this to pertain to semi-auto weapons as well? Retroactively?

I don't think you could do it retroactively.

So there would still exist opportunities for private sale and use of semi-auto weapons? Seems like your idea would be worthless then

You think the war on drugs is bad? You better stock up on diapers because the war on GUNS is going to be EPIC.

Perhaps she could have been taught to always lock away your weapons especially when you have a nut job son.

That flies in the face of the facts. Nothing new I suppose,

Each city, town, village, or hamlet may maintain a municipal militia center with stockpiles of weapons, even tanks and bazookas and such, that provides education on usage, crisis actions, etc

Where would the criminals store their weapons? Would it be the same place they store drugs currently?

That is just it Rex, guns are not the problem. There is no gun problem. People are going to do things like this with or without guns. Let that sink in for a while............
