I don't get your hangup. Is it because YOU think diamonds are worthless when they are not, or do you want people to buy something that is actually worthless, a CZ.

To be honest I think diamonds, gold, silver, CZs, etc are all worthless at as piece of jewelry.

I think my issue is women basing a mans worth off of what the cost of what he buys her is.

But I know plenty of men who place that same value on the gold wedding band they wear as well. So it's not an exclusive notion that women AND men put a value on wedding bands/engagement rings.

That said, most non-gold digging women (I won't say they don't exist because they do) aren't placing a "mans worth" on the ring he buys her. You're completely missing the point. Again.

I def did. It was more so just a sense of contentment, I felt more committed and closer to him.

Hasn't even been 3 months and I'm learning that I need to change the way I had done things before we got married. I feel more protective of our relationship now. Seeing how the way I used to argue with him before can ultimately be very damaging to us in the long run. Learning how to think more of a "us" mentality when it come to our money. Stuff like that. There is also the spirtual aspect of it as well. Because of our Christian faith, we both truly believe we are joined by God when we married. Our vows were spoken in front of Him and I take them very seriously.

Really?

Feminists And the gov't and lawyers have destroyed marriage by usurping the the things that made marriage a viable option.

Well, society puts random values on objects that are completely useless everyday. Just about every collector item is useless because if it is used then it is worthless.

Stamps, action figures, currency, shoes....

You are choosing to pick on women over jewelry. Says a lot about you, or at least your lack of ability to think through a subject.

yeah... she has been married and cheated on... we both feel that getting married is something that may or may not come....

Marriage is a legal obligation... not a emotional one. we both agree on that.

I'm glad you have that opinion. How does a legal obligation all of a sudden make your relationship worse? Is it because you don't have an easy out it case it gets hard?

How does it make it better? Is it because you feel trapped?

That is a significant aspect of our marriage and how we also honor Him.

I'm of the opinion it doesn't change a damn thing. You are the one who said it ruins relationships.

Anyone else find it humorous that an antique jewelry ad keeps popping up on this thread?

But we're all supposed to be as close minded as NAT and not think that way.

Hope the wife doesn't check this thread then, she is on a antique/heirloom jewelry kick right now. Proof that diamonds and shite are a good investment.

I can't help that you're all hung up on not understanding/wanting to understand why people buy engagement rings and/or wedding bands?

ETA: I can at least say I understand why someone doesn't. And not be pretentious about it.
