| Girls... would you rather have a real diamond or a real man made diamond? Posted by NATidefan They are both technically diamonds... Actually the man made ones are more "perfect" than any non man made one you can get. They are both rocks.... How bout a piece of paper shaped into a ring that says I'm worth this amount to my man that you can show off to your friends? Then you just use the money to buy a house or go on a trip or something. | Oh... I'm not buying anything soon... My girl is happy with me just working, cleaning, and letting the dog out at the moment... She also thinks expensive jewelry is scam. Reply Back to Top |

| I was just excited he finally proposed Seriously, he wanted to save up for a lil longer to get a nicer ring for me. I was not waiting several more months(at my age) for a proposal so told him why not just go see what we like with the budget he already had. Got my proposal a month later Reply Back to Top |
Posted by fightin tigers on 12/31 at 3:40 am to lsunurse Yeah, the ring I got the wife isn't that impressive at all compared to what I could get her now. I hope every time she looks at it she remembers that at one time I was charming enough to convince her without the fancy smoke and mirrors I now require to maintain this marriage. That and she has plenty of complementary pieces. This post was edited on 12/31 at 3:42 am Reply Back to Top |

| I'm traditional as is he. The engagement ring symbolized a promise that was made from both of us to marry each other. Reply Back to Top |
| Couldn't you have just told each other you were going to marry each other, and then told your families that... And save the money that goes into a super expensive ring that usually has a 6-12 month shelf life. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by fightin tigers on 12/31 at 3:51 am to NATidefan If you are having second thoughts on spending money on a ring then you might have more issues you need to confront. The amount you spend on the ring is honestly a drop in the bucket for what you will spend in your lifetime and it isn't like you are throwing it away, it will always be there. I do agree it is a little strange when you get think of spending that much money on a material possession that on the surface brings nothing. Reply Back to Top |
| I'm not debating buying any ring for anyone... I saw a commercial for diamond rings and it sparked my thought process. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by fightin tigers on 12/31 at 3:56 am to NATidefan So you are asking the question, "why do women like shiny objects?" Can't help you with that one, I just know it leads to sex 100% of the time....100% Reply Back to Top |
quote: Maybe I'm misreading, but why would that ring only have a 6-12 month shelf life? I know a lot of women who wear their engagement ring with their wedding ring (or have them fused together) after the fact. As far as the purpose of the ring itself, it's for traditional purposes. If the couple has the money to spend towards I don't see the issue. Reply Back to Top |
I recently add two 1 carat diamonds to my wife's 1.5 carat diamond ring. 10th anniversary gift. The ring is now insured for $16k. ![]() Reply Back to Top |

| God I hope that is your hand... Reply Back to Top |
| I would hope at that point he's already received plenty of sexy time for those rocks. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by fightin tigers on 12/31 at 4:08 am to BluegrassBelle True. Hopefully those brought multiple sessions. If not I need to prepare myself because sex becomes a lot more expensive as the anniversaries increase.Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yes, it is my hand. As far as "wasting money", I paid $6000 for this ring (without the two side diamonds), her two wedding bands (all three are platinum), and my white gold ring. These two diamonds were $4500. Because of the spike in the value of gold and platinum, the value has gone up over $5000 above what I paid for them. Reply Back to Top |
quote: My engagement ring only cost a lil over 2K and I'll wear it the rest of my life. You do realize most women wear it after they are married? Reply Back to Top Refresh |
