re: Official AR-15 threadquote: Is this from personal experience or opinion? I've seen many reviews online that unless you abuse them they are as durable as aluminum. I was wondering more about feel than durability anyway - I don't plan to drive tent stakes with my AR. Reply Back to Top |
| Some guy on Atchafalaya Firearms is trying to sell a Beta Mag for $750! This guy and me were gangraping the seller and got our comments deleted Reply Back to Top |

| How much does it cost to build one vs buy one? Reply Back to Top |
quote: it's been awhile, It's a Bushmaster made in Windham, Maine. Before they got bought out. Brownell's has them for $550, not worth selling at that price. This post was edited on 1/14 at 3:04 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: It depends on what you use. You could easily build one for less than $1000 pre SH. You could still build one for around $1000 if you were patient in getting parts. To build a good rifle with a good barrel it cost anywhere from $1200 to $1800 depending on the rail you choose (DD rails are <$300) sights, optics, etc. This post was edited on 1/14 at 3:10 pm Reply Back to Top |
| i'm sure everyone on here already knows about this stuff, but here's a real simple place to look and understand how these things work... It's interaactive and easy for older generation... Reply Back to Top |
| Once all this hysteria dies down and assumming there is not crazy ban, how long y'all think till the shelves are re-stocked and prices level back out? I was on the verge of building one before all this shit, and didn't want to fight the craziness. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Here is exactly what I did 2 pages back BCM Upper $120, BCM BCG $180, Upper kit $30, PSA LPK minus trigger (with buffer tube, spring and buffer) $90, Lower $70 (these are the only things hard to find for a build), ALG ACT trigger $65, BCM charging handle $45, BCM grip $30, Mag-pul ACS-l $100 and BCM 11.5" barrel $300. All I need are some handguards and some iron sights, maybe an Aimpoint and I am done, all of these except the lower were purchased after the 1st of this year. Reply Back to Top |
| Basically if you are persistent enough and go to academy or cabelas everyday you can get an AR for retail price, right? Reply Back to Top |
| This may seem like an elementary question, but before I drop some cash: Are all AR-10 mags interchangeable like AR-15 mags? I will build and AR-10 after the hysteria (if I still can). I can buy some mags right now, since they may be banned after tomorrow. Reply Back to Top |
| Wrong. You never know when they'll be on the shelf. If you go first thing, you're competing with 20 other people. If you go during the day, you have to just hope you time it right. If you call on the phone and they have one, by the time you get there it'll be gone. Not trying to be negative, but that's about the truth of it. Reply Back to Top |
quote: No. Here is how I understand it. No guarantee this is perfect: Armalite: modified M14 mags. RRA & Bushmaster: FAL mags. Everyone else: Original AR10 mags. Magpul makes a Pmag too. If you're building and you don't have a bunch of FAL or M14 mags you bought (and lost in a boat accident) you DEFINITELY want to buy one that takes Magpuls. Magpul AR10 mags may not be as stupid as AR15, I don't know. Reply Back to Top |
| They have some in stock at Cheaperthandirt (not Magpul). If I knew they'd fit what I wanted to build, I'd buy them. Hell, I guess I'll just ride it out and wait for the next Rep president's term. Reply Back to Top |
| Yea I understand Reply Back to Top |
| These? and These? The POF's wouldn't scare me, but they're 90 fricking dollars. The other ones, I don't know. There's lots of crap out there. Maybe instead buy these and/or these. If you don't end up with a RRA later, you can probably trade for the right mags. At $30 they're a good price. Reply Back to Top |
| About how much could I get selling my 250 rounds of .223? Reply Back to Top |
| I feel like it's black Friday everyday at academy now Reply Back to Top |
quote: while they are nice i am just elated with my Lancer advanced warfighter polymer with metal feed lips mags. very, very nice. I have about 10 TAPCO 5.56 mags on back order right now from impact guns. Also 20 7.62 x 39 mags from that same site along with USAammo.com I locked in cheap prices before all this speculation hit the fan. CTD is gouging the hell out of people and they do not have much left anyway as far as mags or ammo. This post was edited on 1/15 at 10:37 am Reply Back to Top |
| Speaking of the AR-10 platform i am really surprised no one made a receiver to feed from H&K G3 mags as they could be had for as little as $0.97 each not that long ago. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
