Not exactly sure what your point is but this is a message board and I can state my opinion as I so choose as long as it's within the rules of the board. If you don't like it, don't read it. Thank you very much. Money says at most half of these kids play in the NFL much less play at LSU for only 3 years. I evaluate based on reality not some fricking pipe dream that sunshine pumps everyone. You can disagree and many do I'm sure but I'm gonna state my opinion freely whether some like it or not.

Agree Gravitiger about Herron. I don't see him growing to DT and don't think the staff wants him to. I was just going off some past history of guys we have come in at his size. I see a Tyson Jackson type DE with a little less bulk. I'm thinking 270 or so. I think Herron's motor is better than Jackson's though.

I think he ends up around 255-260 (~ Edwards/Montomery size). He's maybe 230 right now.

Only 1 DE(Danielle Hunter) and 0 DT's signed in the last class. 8 DL is a good number to bring in for this class.

You're missing the point of the recruiting board. Plus, it's poor form to call out lsufanva who is one of the most informed and valuable posters around here when you have little to no credibility.

Always enjoy and appreciate your posts Fanva! Also agree with you regarding the d-line. It is a numbers game and you have to figure the law of averages will come into play although LSU may temper that more than some with good evaluations and strong recruiting ability. It is just such a critical area for LSU's brand of football in particular.
Quentin Thomas is one player that I have never seen enough information on to evaluate where we stand as far as the shape of the d-tackles. He seems on paper to have that potential to be that surprise athletically dominant player but there just doesn't seem to be much information out there. From not playing his final year of high school to the lack of information that i see since he has been at LSU he just seems a mystery. Maybe I am missing the obvious and should assume that if there is no news of him excelling that might indicate he is not standing out - just don't know.

Bain-much like Lawson. Could blossom or be a non factor. Also could end up on the OL. Again far from a sure thing

Gilmore-the safest of the DTs if only because he's for sure a DT. Still a kid that is not exactly a lock to be special. Has some developing to do.

Lacouture-I like the kid but I see him being one of those depth, rotation only type guys. A solid, 10-12 snap guy that is not special but important to the overall scheme of things in a given year.

Agree with most of what you said, but (just my opinion, no expert here):

1) Neal - Disagree. Will play more than you think. He is a player. The type of player that just plays sound, fundamental ball that just always seems to make plays. Long arms and good technique for a high school player.

2) Herron - Disagree. DE only. All this talk of him possibly bulking up to a DT is nonsense (no insult intended, just see this often on this site and others). Kid will push for playing time as a freshman.

3) Lawson - Agree. Huge potential, but major project.

4) Bain - Disagree. Bigtime. Has the most upside and potential of all DT recruits. He is a DT all the way. I wish LSU fans would stop trying to convert every DT recruit into an OL (not you, just see this way to often on this site). He has the size already. He will compete and push for playing time as soon as he gets on campus.

5) Gilmore - Agree.

6) Lacoutture - Major sleeper. After some development, he will be a major player at DT for LSU.

No doubt the staff has moved on from the guy with the kids trying to run away from his responsibilities. U cant win with these types of guys, Good riddance I think we have a good shot at Bower if he shows up.

We need to dominate Clemson!

rivals.com shows his only two visits as auburn (sep 28. 2012) and lsu (jan 25, 2013). i can't help but think that is a good sign for us, especially with the upheaval going on at auburn since the start of the football year.
