Going to be there on business in January...staying downtown and will be at convention center.

Is downtown safe at night?
Where to eat/drink down there?
Strip Club>

there has been some revitalization around the new arena. the fancier area is in south Charlotte, near Pineville.
strip clubs, no idea?

Downtown is actually called uptown here.

Some good bars uptown--the epicenter has some good bars/clubs, and the NC music factory has a lot of choices.

Southpark area, Southend area, and Dilworth have good bars (not clubs), which I prefer.

NODA is the hipster/hippie area, but kind of boring.

Ballantyne is in South Charlotte. Nice area for families, but not a place to go out, unless you are milf hunting.

Uptown Cabaret is the main strip club (which is obviously uptown). There is also a Men's club in town.

Uptown is safe. Food is good, but somewhat boring/lots of chains.

Duckworths is probably the best beer bar, as far as selection.

Google "Creative Loafing Charlotte" for a music/events calendar. It's the Charlotte equivalent of the Village Voice/Gambit weekly.

Epicenter seems to have a lot going on with bars and restaurants. I was there on a Thursday night once and they had bands playing and sloots everywhere.

We took their basketball team and their QB got a butt load of cash from the barn.

Price's Chicken Coop (in southend) is probably one of the more famous places here. Just a fried chicken place--good but not exciting. Not a sit down place.

Southpark probably has a better restaurant scene than downtown. Cowfish (combination burger/sushi place) is usually packed, food is good/not great, but a cool "scene".

Uptown has a lot of higher end steakhouse chains (Ruth's Chris/Capital Grille). Good food, but nothing really noteworthy.

I'd describe the food scene as a higher end baton rouge, without the Cajun food.

Don't go to North Charlotte ( hidden Valley area) or West Charlotte and you'll be alright. I used to stay there from 96-99 and I just went on thanksgiving to visit family. Concord is nice to visit.

Sports teams suck and Raleigh's better.

Pick up a bojangles chicken biscuit for breakfeast and have a cheerwine (soda) some other time and you'll have a little taste of local flavor.

It's a very clean city with a large population of young professionals so the night life isn't bad at all.

like another poster said, don't go to west charlotte or parts of north. Epicenter might be your best bet if you're near the convention center for entertainment and good eats.

Word up.

But you should go to Matthews and hook up with some sloots.

Lots of sloots in and around charlotte.

Find the parking garage with the musical tones and just go around hitting them. That should keep you occupied for a while.

Until the security guard says "Aren't you a little old for that?"

And you say, frick off gramps.

Then you go to the childrens library frick yea.
