quote: I'm conceding Washington stays ahead of us and doesn't fall, therefore they will need to win the NFC East. If Washington wins division, we don't have to worry about them, we only have to worry about the Giants for a Wild Card. If NYG lose 3 of 4, they likely won't be winning the division. | I don't understand why the Giants have to lose 3/4? I thought head-to-head was the first tie breaker. If they lose to us and Atlanta that puts them at 9-7 same as the Saints (assuming Saints win out). Isn't tie breaker order 1) head to head 2) conference record 3) common opponents or whatever Reply Back to Top |
| I used the playoff machine and here's my list of the best scenario the Saints have of making the playoffs Week 14: 1)Saints @ Giants - Saints 2)Bears @ Vikings - Vikings 3)Cowboys @ Bengals - Bengals 4)Doesn't help us but realistically let's assume Bucs and Seahawks win, Redskins lose Week 15: 1)Giants @ Falcons - Falcons 2)Pack @ Bears - Pack 3)Bucs @ Saints - Saints 4)Seahawks @ Bills - Bills (Cross country and down starting corners) 5) Redskins @ Browns - Redskins Assume vikes and cowboys win Week 16 (best week for saints to catch up) 1)Saints @ Cowboys - Saints 2)Giants @ Ravens - Ravens 3)Vikings @ Texans - Texans 4)49ers @ Seahawks - 49ers assume packers, redskins, bucs, and bears win Week 17 1)Panthers @ Saints - Saints 2)Bears @ Lions - Lions Assume all other worstcase scenario relevant NFC teams win Final Records Saints 9-7 6th seed Seahawks 9-7 5th seed Skins 9-7 Giants 8-8 Bucs 9-7 Vikings 9-7 Bears 9-7 This post was edited on 12/4 at 10:31 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: If it was just two teams tied at 9-7, thats how it would play out. But there will more than likely be 3-4 teams at 9-7. Head to head is "Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others". None of that will be the case. NYG wins next tie break over New Orleans based on best win percentage in conference games. This post was edited on 12/4 at 10:20 pm Reply Back to Top |
| Some things you have to look at though is high seeded teams resting starters. By the time Atlanta is playing NY, they will probably have the 1 seed locked up. Those bastards would lose on purpose to keep us out Reply Back to Top |
quote: You make a good point, but week 15 is too early to start resting players. Everyone else off the top of my head could still get switched around seeding wise up through week 17. Reply Back to Top |
| so you're saying there is a chance... Reply Back to Top |
