Injecting a turkey Posted by 8thyearsenior I will be frying a turkey this year for the first time( well using an oil less fryer). I want to know what you folks use to inject the bird. I am guessing some butter garlic combo but would like suggestions. Reply Back to Top
I simply use a bottle of beer, garlic powder, onion pawder, old bay and cajun seasoning about a tblspoon of each, simmer for 5 minutes then add stick of butter....inject enjoy, dont forget to rub more of the above dry ingredients into cavity and under breast and thigh skin Reply Back to Top
Posted by BlackenedOut on 11/18 at 5:22 pm to 8thyearsenior Stop. Injecting is awful and creates pockets of overly salty meat next to bland turkey. An oil less fryer? Isnt that an oven. Why do people try and make roasting a turkey more difficult than it needs to be? Reply Back to Top |
just rub herbs de provence mixed with unsalted softened butter under the skin and on top of it.May not work in one of those fryer/baker things since the turkey is verticle.Never used one. This post was edited on 11/18 at 6:05 pm Reply Back to Top

You've made a great choice with the oilers fryer. I love mine. I use worchestire, soy sauce, honey and Dijon mustard for my injection. Reply Back to Top
I use Creole Butter from Cajun injector. Keep the needle moving to prevent the salty pockets mentioned. Liberally rub the skin with your choice of dry seasoning for tasty skin. The oil less is not nearly as good as the hot grease IMHO . Reply Back to Top Refresh
